A while back I did a small preview of the then upcoming Winamp 5.5 which featured the completely new “Bento” skin which brought a lot of innovations to the player, but not really to the whole media player scene.
Not much has changed since that preview, except for perhaps it’s stability. But what I said then remains true now:
they should have taken the opportunity to give their media library a much needed revamp.
The “new” Media Library has a few new sections but fails to fix any of the issues that made most Winamp users prefer to use the classic interface. The classic interface was well known and popular for it’s simplicity and low resource consumption. Simplicity, and low consumption of resources, are definitely things that the new Bento interface lacks.
Still, if you’re interested in trying out the player nonetheless, you can download it from Winamp’s homepage.

1I’m not sure what you mean. Winamp with the Bento skin works beautifully for me, and hardly uses any resources whatsoever. The Media Library is exactly the same no matter what skin you use.
Show me a better player out there ;-)

2Hi !
Mr. Mong
It works great for me too, but honestly, The library feature is much much better in iTunes, work awesome in that, aside from that winamp rocks.
