Engadget recently got hold of a video that showcases what interacting with the new Zune is like. And despite what many Apple fans, or Microsoft haters, have been saying about this new player: it’s surprisingly good.
So good that I’m shocked at how badly Microsoft is advertising it’s player on it’s own homepage.
The touch-pad-scroll-wheely thing you use for navigation is surprisingly good, and not only allows you to scroll as if you would if you used a mousepad, but it also mimics the iPods click-wheel to scroll through the longer lists of files.
I honestly think that they have a good product on their hands this time. But if they don’t advertise it properly, it will probably do as badly as it’s older brother did.

1I’m not completely sold on it. Though it’s definitely thinner, it still seems quite large. And the UI is a little too…big.

3This is good news, because Apple needs some competition. Too bad I have all this music I bought on iTunes.

4Yeah the competition will be good for consumers. However I’m not all too impressed with this interface really. The only thing that looks really better about it is the fact that you can click or swipe.
I noticed even the demoer had some issues with the “swiping” tho, as it went too far in one case, a problem I experience far too often on the iPod click wheel, which I really hate.
