I think I’ve mentioned before that I collect CDs and comicbooks. Well, let me just add that I also collect PC and console games, DVDs, vintage watches and action figures. I used to collect a lot of action figure lines but because of space constraints and taking notice of the suffering my wife has to go through I decided to just focus on Batman action figures, a few select Spawn figures and rock star figures as well.
Okay, now that I have finished my “collectors anonymous” confession, let me just say that I am quite excited about the new action figures slated to be released by DC Direct next year. The new Batman figures are absolutely gorgeous. DC Direct has really elevated action figure art to impressive levels. Todd McFarlane may have legitimized action figure collecting with his superbly sculpted line but DC Direct gives collectors that added feel of nostalgia because their action figures are the heroes that you have fantasized about in your childhood.
I am especially in love with both the Batman as Green Lantern figure in the Green Lantern Series 3 line as well as the DC Armory Batman, and the Justice Leage of America Series 2 Batman. I will have to save a lot just to accommodate these new additions to my collection. But then, who’s complaining.
