God of War fans rejoice! Sony Computer Entertainment America has officially announced that the third installment in Kratos’ adventure will be coming to the PS3 and it will come complete with Sixaxis and rumble functionality. That is news good enough to make us nerds surface for air from our frenetic World of Warcraft quests long enough to shout a collective hurrah!
Even though SCEA director Cory Barlog (who probably has one of the coolest last names in the gaming industry) hinted at God of War III during the launch party for GOW II, it was only this week that Sony officially confirmed that GOW III is being developed for the PS3.
The news is not all rosy though because of the announcement that Barlog is leaving SCEA. He was one of the instrumental people who made the God of War franchise a success and with the departure of GOW creative director David Jaffe a few months ago, this means that two of the guiding lights of the franchise will no longer be working on the third installment. Hopefully, the high quality that we have come to expect from God of War will continue.
