Just yesterday, I blogged about Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy 2. Well I just found out today that Del Toro has another movie in the works. This time though he is going to be wearing the producer’s hat. The movie is a Spanish ghost st0ry called The Orphanage. The movie will be directed by Del Toro’s protege Antonio Bayona. This is Bayona’s first movie.
Del Toro fans will remember that he has made a name for himself in the international film industry through the horror genre. his Chronos is still considered as one of the best horror movies ever made. In 2001, Del Toro made a ghost film — a Spanish civil war ghost story called The Devil’s Backbone. That movie earned a lot of critical praise and really established him as the master of genre films.
I am quite excited about The Orphanage. Del Toro’s name in the production credits is like a stamp of approval that I would ensure that, for better or for worse, he approved of this movie.

1As far as I’m aware, El Orfanato is already finished – it just hasn’t had a worldwide release yet. It has been shown in a few places including Cannes and a bunch of other film festivals. I’ve seen five minutes of it, but my Spanish wasn’t good enough to keep up with what was happening…
