Okay, here’s a confession, I have a huge interest in the paranormal. It was one of the first topics that really captured my imagination and ever since I read my first paranormal related book, the Reader’s Digest’s Adventures into The Unknown that I borrowed from a high school classmate, I have been devouring information about paranormal phenomena wherever I could find it.
That’s why I was quite excited when I found out about Paranormal State, a new TV series from A&E. The series follows the mission of the Penn State Paranormal Research Society, an organization formed by Penn State student and paranormal researcher Ryan Buell. The show is promising although being a documentary nut, the reality show style of the series kind of annoys me. I’m not too big on the feature film type tension build up, I much prefer a more “scientific” approach to the cases that are presented every week. It’s a small bone to pick though for a series that has captured my attention especially at this time when TV is really feeling the effects of the writer’s strike.

1I’ve seen it, and am myself a big fan of paranormal stuff. The whole show just seems way to fake. I feel like I’m watching dramatizations. All in all, I would love to read about the cases, but the show just doesn’t do it for me.
