I recently received a few bookstore gift certificates as a Christmas gift. What I did was to go to the store and complete my Preacher trade paperbacks. I already have the individual issues beginning with issue 2o but I wanted to get the TPBs because it’s easier to read and it protects my individual comics from unnecessary wear and tear (yes, I’m THAT kind of comic collector).
I’m now re-reading the Garth Ennis – Steve Dillon masterpiece and it’s still a great ride. This is one comic that is really aging well. The questions about faith and religion is as potent as ever, and Ennis’ dialogue is still one of the best in the business.
Rumors have been percolating over the internets in the last few years about a possible Preacher movie. The last I heard was a Preacher series at HBO was greenlit with the pilot being written by Mark Steven Johnson, the director of both Daredevil and Ghostrider. Ennis and Dillon are said to be executive producing with Howard Deutch as director. It’s been more than a year already though since any more news has come out about it. Here’s hoping that they do not dilute the essence that makes Preacher such a kick-ass comic.
