Someone posted a reply on my previous blog entry on the Nokia E61i asking for the forum that I found where the phone is discussed in depth. The URL is at http://www.philmug.ph/forum/showthread.php?t=21328, which is an online forum for Apple users in the Philippines. Asia is really the hotbed for mobile phones and these guys really know what they’re talking about. No worries when visiting the forum, almost all of the forum posts are in English.
Speaking of the E61i, I found out about this nifty app from the same forum. It’s the Truphone, which is an application that allows you to make VoIP calls to other Truphone users and to mobile phones or landlines. The small app uses the phone’s Wi-Fi connection to enable the call. The Truphone is still in beta and the good news is that until Feb. 29, 2008, you can use Truphone for free — that means free calls to over 40 countries. That’s an absolutely awesome deal.
Are there any Nokia E61i users out there? Maybe you’d like to share some nifty feature or app that you use on your phone.
