Ebony White is one of those things you look back on and cringe that they actually did stuff like that.

I read that that even Will Eisner admitted that the character used racial stereotypes. I also heard that the character changed over time and was one of only a few black figures in comics around then and was less of a stereotype towards the end.

Saying all that doesn’t change the fact the character had a heavily racist beginning, so i’m glad it’s being left out of the movie.

Have you ever read the original Spirit? It’s racist. Not slightly so—flat out racist. I don’t consider that a gift to my heart or my eye.

300 was an almost frame for frame recreation of his comic and Sin City took large parts of it’s look from the work already in print.

If he is approaching it from the point of view of his comics and has a storyboard with the shots and framing he wants, all he needs is a good Assistant Director and Cinematographer to fill in the blanks.
