Quanzik, I agree that Lynch’s version was good, but it just wasn’t as true to the book as much as the sci-fi t.v. series. Why would desert people wear black still suits? Weapons involving sound weren’t even in the books(any of them). AND bene gesserits don’t smile, or show emotion…at all…and let’s not even get into Lynch’s Guild Navigator, which looked like a huge lump of yellowish poo.
Paul Atreides(MuahD’ib) was a teenager, and Lynch’s Paul didn’t look like a teen, but a twenty-something man.
The sci-fi series was great, except for the cheesy puppet looking Guild Navigator.

I like both Sci-Fi’s version and the movie, but neither got it right, here’s hoping someone does.

I loved David Lynch’s Dune. Its has that feel to it, like Blade Runner or the original Star Wars. The new series I thought was badly made, the actors weren’t fit for those roles. The actor that played Paul was a bit too whiny for me, just like Hayden Christensen.
I hope this new version isn’t all hipe.
