I think both are okay in that area, but the 970 could have the advantage of one and a half year of additional design consideration. For example, the positioning of the buttons around the dial changed quite a bit.

Not had any experience with the 960 I'm afraid, but on looking that up it looks like a pretty good phone too. Would you see the benefit of the zoom or would you prefer to keep the pixel number higher?

I bought the IXUS 960 IS last week, not noticing that the 970 was out.

Now I wonder if I should send the 960 back and get the 970 instead. The price is mostly identical, my SD card works anyway.

What I found in the stats: 970 has more zoom (5x instead of 3x), less MB (10 instead of 12), smaller CCD sensor, and some other weird stuff I don't what its about.

More zoom: Good
Less Megapixel: Well, 12 is too much anyway, good.
Smaller sensor: Bad, in theory, not sure if it actually matters

Anyone any experience with those two? Is it worth switchting (as long as I get my money back for the 960)?

[...] reload prepaid dgn sms wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt Canon’s new compact digital camera - the IXUS 970 - looks the business, and with good reason. It is one of the most impressive (and powerful) that they have ever built. In fact, it is so high quality; it should well be able to compete with your old SLR (though possibly not your brand-new SLR with the fancy lens). The blurb from Canon states: With a powerful 5x zoom lens, the Digital IXUS 970 IS is well equipped and intelligent, but never compromises on style. Its compact body is packed wit [...]
