I am currently hunting for a mini-notebook. While I have my trusty Macs and Dells lying around, I somehow still feel the need for a mini-notebook for my other jobs.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably posted help messages on forums, you’ve probably even tiwitted a couple of friends for recommendation. I’ve YM’ed, Skyped, GTalked, Facebooked, Friendstered my dilema. In summary, 9 out of 10 would say go for an ASUS EEE PC, 1 said get a powerbook G4 12″ (obviously, he knows where to get a brand new one).
There are many reasons to get another mac, but I think I’d be shooting for an ASUS EEE PC this time. I think it trumps every electronic in its class, at least for now.
This is a long introduction to a website, but OK… here’s what I am meaning to write about.
Remember all the tasks I did to search for a mini-notebook? C’mon, I just described my ordeal above. OK :) www.retrevo.com is a website that helps you do all those things automatically.
I’ve tried putting in asus eee pc on it’s search box and it came back with:
1. Lists of manufacturer’s website
2. Lists of featured online shops who sells it
3. Lists of reviews and articles about it
4. Forum posts and blog posts about it
5. Special deals from bargain shops
6. Lists of 20+ online shops who also sells it
Need I say more?
The website/portal is still in its beta stage, but I like how it’s currently positioning itself as a powerhouse specialized search engine.
Here’s their “About Us” blurb on how www.retrevo.com works:
How to use Retrevo depends on what you want to do. We can help you find that right product, new usage tips or troubleshooting and support answers – including taking you directly to the specific page in a pdf manual! Our goal is to give you answers for all your electronics needs from before you buy to after you’ve had the product for years, and everything in between. Retrevo is the place to help you enjoy the experience of electronics products.
Staying with our philosophy of keeping things simple for everyone, we’ll focus on some of the key features of the site and include a couple common use cases. We’re confident you’ll be able to take it from there.
