I recently got Rockband for the PS2 and I am really having a lot of fun playing the game. I’ve been a Guitar Hero addict ever since the first game came out because it really plays into most of my obsessions and frustrations — the childhood desire to form my band, my love for rock and my virtuoso aspirations to play guitar (haven’t touched a real one in a while though because my old guitar broke).
Rockband is an extension of that obsession and I think it has ramped up the desire and obsession quotient. The ability to play the drums, sing vocals, pick up the bass is just too good to be true for a music geek like me. I still don’t have the PS3 version but I’m already ordering the PS3 special bundle so I can practice with the mic on my PS2.
Unfortunately, it may take me a while before I get to buy a PS3 because of a new hobby I just got into — I got a new car this weekend.

3Congrats on the new ride – what’d you get?
I’m loving Rock Band myself. Quite worth the investment, IMO, because of the long-term playability and extensibility with add-on songs and the party or group playability.
As an aside, I happen to have a brand new 40GB PS3 sitting in my parents’ house in Oregon (supposed to be a gift to a friend but wasn’t…) that I can sell you for cheaper than in the stores. I got a deal through Sony.
