Gamers who have seen screenshots for Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 5 marvel at the very radical look of the game. This clearly marks the continuation of a new direction for the esteemed franchise, which actually started with the new gameplay elements introduced in RE 4. Unfortunately, any kind of information regarding its eventual release has been a well-guarded secret.
Until now, that is. In a business presentation held by Capcom last week, a tantalizing bit of information regarding RE5 was released. According to the presentation, Capcom plans to release RE5 along with games from its other franchises before the end of its 2008 fiscal year — and that’s March 31, 2009. Capcom is actually very optimistic about RE5’s performance that they are projecting that it will sell around 2.3 million copies all over the world. That is a figure that I am believe could be achieved if we base it on how addictive and engaging RE4 is.

1This has actually been the release date that’s been touted for a while now – certainly since it was pushed back beyond 2008. Frankly, if it is even 75% as good as Resident Evil 4 then it will be worth playing. Those visuals look a treat too.
