In case you haven’t heard of this unusual game, Siren: Blood Curse was featured in an announcement by SCEE on the Playstation Day disc that this survival horror game will be coming to Playstation 3 this Summer, in Europe at least. It is going to be episodic (via downloadable content) over the Playstation Network.
So what’s it all about then? It apparently promises to be the “most terrifying game in the Siren series to date”. In case you’re not familiar with the Siren games, the previous incarnation, Forbidden Siren, was really known as one of the most atmospheric horror games ever released, certainly on par with Silent Hill.
Just as in the previous game, the action takes place in a rural mountain village named Hanuda. In Blood Curse, the action centres around a TV crew from America arrive to research the legend of the vanished village, where human sacrifice is said to have taken place. This plot links in with the first game, where villagers tried to resurrect a being called the Datatsushi – a monster that turns followers into ‘living zombies’.
Once again, the game will feature the unique “Sight Jack” system that allows the player to see through the eyes of their zombified pursuers to work out where they should go to avoid being killed. This really helps to heighten the tension in the game. If you haven’t yet seen the video of perhaps the creepiest game of the year, then follow the link to Kotaku.
