The Gears of War film adaptation is moving along smoothly. Underworld director Len Wiseman has been chosen to helm the movie (What about Uwe Boll?!).
A new draft of the script is now being handled by Wanted writer Chris Morgan. Originally, it was Stuart Beattie who was supposed to get the scriptwriting duties. With this new development, Wiseman will work closely with Morgan in developing the story. This could be a good thing since the two are also collaborating on a new science fiction thriller, The Shell Game. Just to add a further level of “credibility” to the project, Gears of War lead designer Ciff Bleszinski will get executive producer credits.
Gears of War was the hit launch title for the Xbox 360 and it was one of the top selling games for that year. There is already talk of a new sequel being readied in the release pipeline for Microsoft.

1I’m not hopefully at all about this one. Sounds like a disaster. If Underworld is the best he can do as a really bad, vampire ‘B’ movie… oh dear.
