One of the games I was most excited about in the recently held E3 is DC Universe Online. I know, the superhero MMO has been done already with City of Heroes but with generic superheroes it’s just not that much fun when you compare it with the possibility of role-playing someone like Batman or the Green Lantern (I’ll never choose Supes, I think he’s a dork). The somewhat gritty look of DCU Online is something that I am also quite excited about. This could mean a decision to go all dark and noirish with the game, which I think is the right direction to go. I can’t wait to play Read more »

i-Knock your IM messages
The i-Knock B01 Personal Instant Messaging Notifier is one of those weird gadgets that actually looks good on your desk. This little gizmo is plugged into your PC’s USB port and whenever you receive an instant message or email, the little guy knocks his head with the hammer, lights up and blurts out some preselected phrases. The i-Knock is compatible with many IM apps and also responds to over 20 different emoticons. The manufacturer of this cool gizmo is Stysen. Read more »
Mac Funamizu’s Future Encyclopaedia
This picture represents the future. It’s a transparent encyclopaedia, meaning that you should never get lost or stuck again. The idea is that we’re going to need even more information in the future than we do now and holding up this gadget against a car, a building, some writing or just about anything else will give you a range of details about the object. See anything that’s of interest and the slide will call up context-sensitive, relevant information to the object that you’re viewing through the transparency that’s retrieved via Wi-Fi. As the screen is transparent, you can then touch on a particular area and you’ll get even more information Read more »
Nailed USB
Do you want to play a quick prank on friends? This will set you back by about US$45 bucks right here, but I think it’ll be all just worth it when you here them shriek and yell “What did you do to your laptop!” “Nailed” is a USB memory stick with a vengeance. When inserted into your USB ports it gives the illusion that there is a nine-inch nail hammered right through your desktop or laptop. Made of polyurethane/iron and initially sold with a capacity of 1GB. You’d initially think that this is yet another product from Japan… but no no no no (!), it’s from a company based Read more »
Solar mini-clip fan for the games
Take this to the ballgame and enjoy the ooohs and aaaahs. :) For US$10/clip I think getting the solar mini-clip fan is a must. Specially if you like caps and always find yourself under the heat of the sun. No batteries required… just the natural rays of the good ‘ol wonder. If that solar cell sustains the energy demand of that small motor for a good ball game then it has served it quite well. I could just see what this baby could be good for. Product branding. Gatorade or other power juices could well take note of this find. The only drawback I see is ‘yer comfortable vision. Does Read more »
Awesome Red Sonja poster
There are no words to describe the awesome Red Sonja teaser poster that was recently unveiled at Comic Con. I have said this before and I will say this again: Rose McGowan is the perfect Red Sonja. Geeks all over the world will most probably dream about this poster tonight. Read more »
Plexidor Electronic doggie door
Does your dog appreciate your “geeky-highness”? Ah, if your pet spends much time with you infront of the PC then maybe he’s a geek too. Have you heard the phrase “you are what you’re pet is?” LOL! I’ve seen to many pet and pet-owner look-alikes. I’ve seen that temperaments are most likely in the realm of “spot on!” if I dare to venture a guess. The Plexidore Electronic Doggie Door work like garage doors, but instead of ‘ol doggie pressing a button (hey, Lassie can do it! and so can Boomer), your geeky dog just trots in and out. The set includes a dog collar that allows the door to Read more »
WipEout HD Set Back Due To Epilepsy Fears
It may not be common knowledge, but apart from the video games ratings, part of the testing that electronic has to go through is related to epilepsy and other seizure-inducing medical problems. Naturally, if a video game cannot pass these tests then it is deemed to not be suitable for general sale. You may have noticed that all of your video games carry this warning – yet they are fine to be on sale. I’m not sure how they are rated, but there must be a threshold limit. Unfortunately, WipEout HD did not meet the threshold limit. As it was absent from Sony’s E3 conference, this naturally got tongues wagging. Read more »
Backup Power for your iPhone
Sometimes there just isn’t enough power in your iPhone is there(?) even if the sticker says it may last for 3 hours. With a capacity of 100mAh, this power source from Brando can just keep you online for a little while longer. Hey you’d know there is something a gadget lacks when after it’s released a solution makes a follow-thru to make the gadget “better” to use. There is an animated LED light to indicate the battery charging status. Charging is done thru a regular USB cable. Sold for US$25, which is not bad. Enough to keep you worry free when travelling for a substantial amount of time. Really good that Brando Read more »
Wii shortage this holiday season faced by US shoppers
Uberdemand on the Nintendo Wii may become a problem again when the Holiday season arrives. There is a very real prospect of consumers facing hard-to-find stocks of the best-selling console in the market. No less than Nintendo President Satoru Iwata admitted to Forbes Magazine that the company cannot promise US shoppers will be able to get their hands on the Wii this holiday season. Iwata-san said that they are doing all they can to increase shipments to the US but he cannot give a firm commitment that their efforts will solve the shortage problems that they foresee. It’s a good thing I don’t have to worry about getting a Wii Read more »
