Watches are great – they are a wonderfully functional device that can also have another purpose – that of a status symbol.  Many watches of course come with new and added functionality – for instance a stopwatch feature or even organiser.  The Luminox Original Dive Watch however is very good at one thing in particular – being very tough.

The watch has a Swiss illumination system that glows for up to 25 years, as well as being water resistant to 200 metres (hence the diving part).  It has an ABS plastic moulded injection 35mm case and is protected by a sapphire tinted glass window made of scratch resistant tempered mineral glass.  The movement is multi-jewel quartz and has a unidirectional bezel.  Other features include a four year battery with early warning system and date display.

These watches must be good – I say that because Luminox supplies the U.S. Navy SEAL Teams and other armed forces around the world.  They are manufactured to a very high standard in Switzerland and provide a superbly tough and resistant face (literally) to really stand the tough tests required by an active wearer.

Each watch employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights developed by the world leader in the luminous compound industry. These micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules) are installed into the hands, hour markers, and when necessary, their bezels, and need no external light source to “charge” the paint on the dial or hands in order to glow. Nor do they require a push of a button to light the dial as do watches with electro luminescence. It’s the ultimate illumination system, will glow continuously for more than 25 years, and glows 100 times brighter than other luminous watches.

If you have a tough job or hobby and really need a watch that requires permanent illumination, then look no further than the Luminox.  You won’t be disappointed.  I’ll cover my new chosen watch as soon as it arrives.
