The amount of space I dedicate to Guitar Hero and Rock Band in these pages is a testament to how much I love this game genre.
But even I have to raise my eyebrow at this new product.
Guitar Praise is new product that mixes the Guitar Hero idea with, uhm, Christian worship. The premise is simple, take Guitar Hero but instead of putting in songs from hard rock bands that “worship satan”, you’ve got a game that is filled with songs from Christian rock bands. I know there are a lot of Christian bands out there and some of them are actually pretty good but I’m guessing the pool is quite shallow.
Hopefully, they didn’t put Amy Grant songs to bulk up the song list.

You know, this is a rather BIGOTED post, Mel. Christians are always looking for a spiritual alternative that allows them to “play with God” as it were. And there’s nothing wrong with it.
SHAME ON YOU for trying to paint this with stereotypical rhetoric.
“And there’s nothing wrong with it.” – Yeah there is, religion is the cause of all the wars in the world, the deaths of millions, and every week it breaks up families. You want bigots? Go to your local church… homosexuality WRONG, abortion WRONG, x WRONG, y WRONG, all because some idiots back in the year dot wrote a stupid book so they could control a bunch of stupid guilable morons.
…worst of all they’re going to ruin a great game >.<
So it seems Guitar games are now no longer cool.
Having a Jesus based game is like coming home to find your Dad rocking it out to Santana and getting a perfect score.
Epic Fail.
I almost never post replies to comments on what I blog about because I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I have to reply to James deRuvo’s comment about my blog post being “Bigoted”.
I just re-read my post and I absolutely did not find anything that was even slightly bigoted about it. It was written in a tongue-in-cheek manner, yes, but the tone was far from bigoted. I even acknowledged that there are a lot of christian rock bands out there that are really good (case in point, Jars of Clay).
I think the problem here is that any post that even slightly touches on religion will always polarize people. I say, let’s all lighten up. It would make for a much better world, really.
Oh, and just to make things clear, I’m a church-going Catholic who’s not afraid to question dogma.

Religion will cause wars, but you can not rule out the other areas that start wars. The Bible is not just a book written by man. Religion is what draws many together. May be you have had a bad experience, but when you focus your life on One thing, there should be unity. As far as family goes, can’t we say that other areas of our life cause families to break apart? Drugs, alcohol, adultery, etc. Don’t blame religion. That is the easy way out. Satan controls so much of this world and all that we participate in, watch, hear, and see. One day, all will bow their knee at Jesus Christ. I hope you will come to find peace and salvation before it’s too late.
Rereading your initial post as well, I feel I have to apologize for a kneejerk reaction. Man, it must’ve been a bad day for me that day! So sorry, Mel, for insinuating you were bigoted in it, that was certainly uncalled for.
But I also encourage you to check more into the Christian music scene. In particular, Glenn Kaiser. Is the pool shallow? Not at all. You just have to wade in and out.
Oh, and Noname, name calling makes for poor retort.
