Who says the usual geek couldn’t stay out in the sun too long? Will he miss his gadgets, his java or his geeky zen if he’s extracted from the basement? No… no… no… NO! Geeks around the world can stay in the sun and in style with the solar powered necktie! :)
While clothing and solar powered cells aren’t necessarily “news” I’ve longed to see a design implementation that “blends” it to daily life. From 5-10 feet away, you’d just think this is a cool power tie… but up-close and personal you’d notice the genius behind it. Power up the phone or power up that UMPC perhaps. Well… not the UMPC for now of course.
Designed by researchers at the Iowa State University as a concept. But hopes up that it may not be far too long that it hits the geek markets. Boy would I want to see Steve Jobs integrating this into the iPod Shuffle accessory line. Call it the iTie. :)
