I recently bought a Zen X-Fi (16 Gb)

- The sounds is great, though to me the X-Fi emulator just makes the sound tinny (I don't use it)

- The software is utter rubbish (both the video converter AND the Creative Centrale)

- The headphones may sound great and be expensive when bought separate, but that is of no real worth when the ear-plugs keep falling out. I'd rather have had rubbish headphones and a lower price on the player so I could buy a pair of better fitting ear-plugs. I wonder if Creative can't sell 'em on their own and just decided to bundle them to get rid of them.

- The screen has nice colors and a great resolution

- The video playback looks pretty good, but actually getting your vids converted is a pain. As mentioned, I didn't like the bundled software (it kept locking up my PC and did not display ANY estimated time 'til completion). I found a solution in AVS4YOU version 6. Apparently, the X-Fi only really wants to play WMV9 files (despite what it says on the package) - Here is what works for my player: 320*240, 25 fps, bitrate of 600 (Audio: 80 kbps, 44100 Hz, stereo, 16 bit)

- Making playlists is a pain using Creative Centrale (you can't listen to the music on the player whilst making the playlist - this is all kinds of stupid, since no one can remember all the great songs by title or author)

- The 'Alpha-numerical' buttons are very difficult to tell apart by touch - I would have preferred the way it was done on the Zen series.

- Bookmark function is great

- It's a good implementation that you can decide what functions you see in the menu

- The loudspeaker is surprisingly good, all things considered

I love my Creative Zen mp3 player but would like help from you experts. I want to download my PLAYLISTS from iTunes. Is there a way to do this? I know I can load individual songs and albums from iTunes by using the ZEN media program but not playlists. I tried to use a third party program called "iTunes agent" but it requires that my Zen be assigned a drive # by windows, something that creative apparently does not allow. Does any one know of a program that can help me out or how to assign a drive # ? I can be reached at stevewallace222@yahoo.com
Thanks, Steve

System 5 is a high performance digital audio mixing system specifically designed for audio post-production and music applications.

System 5 has gone through a major evolutionary redesign including new surface modules, new DSP SuperCore, and the new EuCon Hybrid Option for adding DAW control from the System 5 surface.

The System 5-MC is a DAW Controller with a difference - a big difference. Based upon the Euphonix System 5 control surface design and the innovative MC, the System 5-MC tightly integrates with DAWs such as Pro Tools, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Digital Performer and Pyramix using the high-speed EuCon control protocol over Ethernet.

The control surface can be fitted with 8-48 System 5 channel strips and includes the MC Pro media application controller for master console functions and network control of multiple DAWs. The System 5-MC can work with any application that supports EuCon, HUI or Mackie Control protocol, and can switch between multiple Mac and PC workstations at the push of a button

I wouldnt buy something from Creative even if they told me it would perform oral pleasures upon me, let alone aural ones.
Rubbish hardware that magically fails as soon as the warranty runs out. Loosy software that never gets updated and useless support who`s attitude seems to be "Weve had your money now f*ck off"

I currently have the Creative ZenV Plus 4GB mp3 & video player. I also have an X-Fi XtremeMusic sound card in my PC. If the new Zen X-Fi outputs sound as good as the X-Fi XtremeMusic then I will definitely be looking to upgrade even though I am more than pleased with my ZenV Plus. I believe you're quite correct in stating that Creative's offerings are better than Apple's. The only reason I would actually prefer an iPod is the masses of offerings from 3rd party companies supplying additional equipment and connectivity such as docking systems, amplified speakers, carry-cases etc and here-in lies the problem!!!
