It got better! A whole lot better. 120GB is quite a hefty amount of space for everyone… yeah even for movie fans. I think this can very well fit around 150 movies… but who does that right? I’d say people will just use about 50GB of movie and about 10GB of music… about half a a gig of photos.
I think Apple is trying to roll its sleeve on something here. Will the iPod classic pivot to another specific line? Probably to look into portable (and secure) data storage, a shuttle… makes sense right? That’s got to be it for the coming Macworld 2009. :)
Too bad the iPod classic isn’t coming in the colors of the new iPod nano line, I think it never will. One feature it adopted though is the “Genius” playlist creator, which I think is really cool.
Well ’nuff said, this was just meant to be a quick heads-up!

That is amazing. So much space. It does beg the question of what you’d do with it all. And how long it would take to turn that many CD’s into Apple’s stupid format, before then moving them across to the player…
You realize that the previous generation of Ipod Classics went up to 160gb?
I don’t feel that moving down to 120 was a bad move for them at all, but its not like they actually added any new features to the classic at all from what I can tell.
Heya Rob, yup, I know it was 160GB before. “Better” was because now it made more sense. Nobody I knew maxed out 160GB anyway. I believe the newer features is Genius.
“it made more sense” doesn’t. Don’t try to save face when your original article reads as if they’d never had that much storage before.
As for it being better, I must have missed the throngs of people saying “please, please, give us less storage”
Genius will be available via an update for all of the classics. All they did was bump their smaller model and discontinue the larger one.
What I want to see is Apple makig iTunes sync-ing an optional feature. I personally prefer drag and drop library management. I have so many MP3s that it won’t fit even on a 500gb hard drive. With iTunes you’re always required to have a copy of the iPod’s contents on your hard drive and that’s a big hassle for me. Unfortunately, Anapod Explorer doesn’t work on the new generation iPods anymore.
I totally agree Mel, it’s time that Apple stopped this nonsense of forcing you to go through their software. It’s exactly why I buy Creative music products and not anything from Apple.
Well JC, to each his own I guess. What doesn’t make sense to you, does to me. I hope you’d forgive me for having a different view from yours. But thanks for sharing your views. Peace.
