I know you remember these happy fellas who drove around the Bird’s Nest Stadium in those colorful monowheel cycles. Did you say “Oh my gosh, where did they get those!” when about a hundred maneuvered in synchronized fashion. Ah, if you’ve got $1,700 extra (plus shipping costs) and would love to “own” a piece of the 2008 Olympics… The Monovelo is available for sale.

The website says it would take time to master the perfect ride, but once you get the hang of it you’re sure to make a lot of heads turn around. Great for advertising campaigns too I guess as the Monovelo will surely grip a lot of recall. (not sure if the LED lights you see here are included in the retail version)
I wonder if it’s shipped in pieces (tools included)… It sure does look like a huge FEDEX box if it doesn’t.

2That’s cool! Wish I had the cash to spend on it. Though now that I think about it it looks kinda like Mr. Garrison’s “IT” from South Park :-)
