Happy Back-Up Day

Happy Back-Up Day

Ok, I know today is Halloween, but “didja” know that it is also Back-Up Day? It’s been actually three years that we’re celebrating Back-Up Day… courtesy of Maxell. Of course this has a lot to do with Maxell’s wares (CD, DVD and tape format backup media), but nonetheless I think it’s cool to have an awareness campaign such as this. I’ve heard too many horror stories about businesses dragging its feet to do a decent regular backup and ka-pow (!) the unthinkable thing happens. All data gone due to negligence. With data getting too fast and media getting cheaper, I think it’s near a crime not to do a decent Read more »

GTA IV gets trophies

I’ve had Grand Theft Auto IV on my game library since July but I never even got to tear of the shrink wrap on the game up until a week ago. Which was a good thing in a way because Rockstar Games has announced that it will be patching GTAIV to include trophies. The new patch will include 51 trophies, which is one more than the Xbox 360 gamer achievements for the same game. Bad news for people who’ve played the game before though. The trophies are not retroactive so if you want to get the trophies you’ll have to play the game all over again. Read more »

The one and only tablet Mac

The one and only tablet Mac

It’s a widely known fact that graphic designers use a tablet to do their magic and spells, great art work. Known fact too that most graphic designers would prefer to use Macs over PCs. I’ve used both, and am not a real pro to notice the difference but them that are (!) use Macs. At least those I know. :) Mod company Axiotron was focused on GeekBrief.tv today, and it’s about their work on the Macbook. The Axiotron Modbook® is a revolutionary slate-style tablet Mac that enables users to draw and write directly on the screen – available now through Axiotron Authorized Resellers or by transforming your existing computer using Read more »

Microsoft Partners with Univision

Microsoft Partners with Univision

Microsoft has recently partnered with Spanish language media company Univision to offer a music store just for the Zune. Univision.com has a special place for Zune owners called “Baja Zune Musica” where you can download Spanish music for your Zunes. About 4 million songs are available for download from the site. Good news for Latin music lovers, for a certain time your favorite Latin songs will be available for 50% off. So if I were you, get going to Univision.com right now. I think this is a good move for Microsoft. I’m not seeing any “Zune push” this past quarter so this offering will surely swing some interest on their Read more »

I’m a big fan of Hulu.com, I try to go there about twice a week to see TV programs I missed. Oh I love “The Office”, season 4 rocks! Well, I just heard that Hulu.com now plays movie trailers too. So just in case you’d like to see what a movie is, well, you don’t have to wait on cable to feature it. You can just hop on Hulu.com and clicking on Movies->Trailers will get the job done. Just came from there and saw the “Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince” trailer. Spooky! I bet ‘ya it’ll be a smash hit, better than the last one. Their flash player offers Read more »

Google Earth for the iPhone

Google Earth for the iPhone

Good news today, Google Earth has just released its iPhone and iPod touch versions. Google Earth is Google’s map software that let’s people scan the entire globe and zero in on a point of interest getting detailed roadmaps for some areas or terrain snapshots. The iPhone version brings the PC experience to your palms and great to note that this is also the first time that Google Earth is being made available for a mobile phone. With the iPhone’s multi-touch and gesture features, I think it will be much easier to use than the original PC versions. The only difference I see is that the iPhone version has limited information Read more »

XBox 360 Hard Drive 60GB Live Pack

XBox 360 Hard Drive 60GB Live Pack

According to Gamestop, the XBox 360 Hard Drive 60GB Live Pack will pre-order ships starting Nov 4, 2008. Now we know why they do not allow external hard drives, LOL. Pricing is a little steep, but for the XBox hard fans out there, save up… you know you want one of these soon. Not sure if the timing of the release has something to do with the elections, probably not. The 60GB HDD Live pack includes a 60GB hard drive, a 3 month subscription to Xbox Live, a wired headset and ethernet cable all for $99. If it was my deal, I would’ve dropped the wired headset and ethernet cable Read more »
