Technabob has stumbled upon quite a game this week, they’ve written about Gomibako for the PS3 and as they say, it’s like playing Tetris with trash! The game was spotted at the 2008 Tokyo game show held Oct 9-12 held in Makuhari Messe, in Chiba, Japan. Kinda like the Leipzig Games Convention… the only difference is the last 2 days of the 2008 Tokyo game show were open for the public.
Back to Gomibako, the game is still in the Japanese version at press time, no announcement on official release just yet. All I know is that it’s for the PS3 and boy does it look good. I checked out a demo video of the actual game and while it does look like the standard Tetris it added a special feel in every garbage dumped. It kinda follows physics, gravity and other stuff related to the composition of … er, trash. Heavier objects can squish lighter ones and flammable once are flammable… they burn!
Points are made when you stack garbage in reasonable rows, they get deducted from the pile and scores you accdg to speed, accuracy and other things.
We are expecting the game to be a downloadable sale from the Playstation online network. A US release? hmmm… maybe… keep your fingers crossed!
