The addition of the trophy system for the Playstation 3, though a little belated, was still a welcome development. The trophies, just like the achievements of the Xbox 360, gave an added dimension to playing games.
Unfortunately, the implementation of the trophies has been quite erratic. Some games retroactively implemented it (GTAIV, Drake’s Fortune), while others didn’t (we still have to see the Metal Gear Solid 4 achievements).
Sony is addressing the issue once and for all though. It has announced that beginning January 2009, any game submitted for accreditation should have trophies in place. This is good news for us PS3 gamers.
Now, we only have to wait for Home.
