Well, two of my favorite things have come together. Sesame St. will be available on Hulu.com (and iTunes) to celebrate their 39th year anniversary. At iTunes, every full episode will sell for about $1.99 and Hulu.com (and YouTube.com too) will show clips from season 35.
From Reuters: “The episodes complement existing Sesame Street programing on iTunes, such as “Talk, Listen, Connect” for children whose parents are deployed in military action, and “Happy Healthy Ready for School” featuring the furry, red creature Elmo.
Sesame Workshop will get 70 percent of the revenue in the iTunes deal, but the number of viewers is not likely to be a big one at first, said Terry Fitzpatrick, Sesame’s vice president of distribution.
“It’s an area we certainly hope grows,” he said, declining to give a specific projection.”
Not that this matters to geeks like you and me, but if your 40 and below, there’s a great chance you grew up with Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, The Count and Elmo. It would be cool to have something different on your iPods eh?
Will the earlier episodes see an online debut too? Not now, the producers have said that they do not want the online market competing with their CDs and DVDs currently in stores worldwide.
Kinda gives you more reason to get your kids an iPod doesn’t it? I hope Apple does a cute thing with Sesame Street to this effect. Hint hint! :)
