With the Captain America movie now moving with the announcement of Joe Johnston as director, the fanboy community is now abuzz as to who can rightly done the red,white and blue costume of Cap.
Some of the names being thrown about by fans include Brad Pitt (not a bad choice, actually) Serenity star Nathan Fillion, Matt Damon, Aaron Eckhart, Ryan McPartlin (the guy who plays Captain Awesome in Chuck), and Cole Hauser.
I myself am partial to Brendan Fraser.
What about you guys? Who do you think should play Captain America?
Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Cole Hauser…HELL NO!
Ryan McPartlin, too young and too much of a pretty boy.
Aaron Eckhart, yes I think he could work, maybe.

It totally depends on the tack they take for Cap. If he’s a brand new super soldier from the modern era…I shall be disappointed. However if, as I believe, they’re going with the ‘frozen for 60 years’ angle, then we have several possibilities. For me, however, it’s more about the acting chops than ‘the look’
Brad Pitt is, in my opinion, a nearly perfect choice. Man can act. Has the build. Has the look. HOWEVER…he also looks a little too (sorry Brad) old for the role.
Matt Damon…maybe. He can pull off the look and has decent acting. Somehow I just don’t see him as Cap though.
Aaron Eckhart has way too many years on his face.
I dunno…I’m seeing a theme here. My version of Cap has him looking solidly 28 (the age he was when he was frozen…I think).
Most of the really good actors who also fit the body and face-type are definitely older.
Heath Ledger coulda done it….but…yeah.
I dunno. It’ll be a tough call. Not an easy role, honestly.

Gerard Butler anyone?
As I was reading through the list none of them seemed to fit the bill for Capt. I got to thinking and only one face came to mind. Adam Baldwin.

Call me picky, but I’d like the actor for Captain America to be American :D
I know, I know…actor is one thing, character is another…but Cap’s special :D
Must be square jawed, late twenties early thirties and be able to pull off the acting needed to show the loss at realising the world he knows is gone.

Matt Damon maybe, but he seems a little too popular for the role. Captain America needs to be an actor who isn’t AS well known.

Damon is too short and not blonde. He’s gotta at least be over 6′. Charlie Hunnam, Matt Biedel, Gabriel Macht, Jensen Ackles are all possible options in my book. Eckhart is too old to play Cap.
Matt Damon would be perfect. He’s a bad ass who knows how to fight (Bourne movies). Not to mention he’s a damn good actor. just die his hair blonde and it’s good to go.

I know… terrible idea ofr him to even TRY acting but .. TOM BRADY QB for pats.. has the look perfectly, square jaw, cleft chin, tall, built…. adam baldwin ist a bad choice, but his voice is too deep, besides after hearing him n the Superman: Doomsday movie as superman, doesnt seem right. Pitt- too old, Damon- doesnt have the presence nor the powerful voice CAPTAIN CANT BE BLACK, just wrong bad enough that nick fury is.. Stick to the comic books! in the end its gonna have to be an unknown like routh as superman
i think Mark Wahlberg would be a good Steve Rogers and Captain America, plus he has acted with Edward Norton before so i think he would be a good choice for Cap
Sam Worthington–the Terminator in the newest Terminator film. He’s already got the muscles and he played a truly cool-headed, steely-resolve kind of guy. And he’s got a kind of All-American Boy look about him. (Even though I think he’s Australian.)

Matt Damon is TOO SHORT has NO charisma and looks silly pretending to fight (those lame Bourne flicks). Gerard Butler is awesome but too old and can’t hide his thick Scottish accent. Isiah Bradley (black Captain America) was a cool spin but should remain in comics. Chiwetel would be too short to play him but Michael Jai White (dude is a real life super-human being/specimen and can act to) would nail it. Truth is Cap needs to be a white AMERICAN. Sadly Hollywood has produced no leading men of worth to fit the bill. If this were the 80′s the list of VIABLE cap chices would be endless but since we are in the metro 21st century we must look beyond Hollywood.
Drumroll please…Tom Brady wins. He’s got the look and the heat. He can certainly pull out a physical performance and has charisma and leadership energy. As for acting…the director just has to be competent enough to coach a natural performance from TB his innate character will do the rest. Tom Brady all the way.

Mark Valley is my choice.A graduate of West Point,former U.S. Army Officer,and decorated Gulf War veteran.He looks EXACTLY like Steve Rogers and it would be too perfect for America’s hero to be portrayed by an American hero.I hope he gets it.
It’s weird,I am an avid NFL football fan and it has crossed my mind more than once that Tom Brady does look like Cap:-)
