With GTAIV for the PC finally shipping earlier this week, you would think that the almost ten-month gap between the release of the console version and PC version would result in something uneventful for Rockstar Games.

Apparently, the problems have all happened with the PC version. Buyers of the game have been complaining of many problems with the game, some quite severe that it actually hampers gameplay. Some of the complaints include debilitating frame rates that happen even on monster rigs, short draw distances, game crashes and textures that disappear. Gamers have also taken to task Rockstar for its decision to use SecuROM DRM technology as its anti-piracy measure. Vocal gamers have been so infuriated that most have gone to Amazon to give it dismal reviews. A look at the rating GTAIV has at the merchant site shows that it’s at 1.5 at present.

Rockstar Games has already acknowledged the problems and have blamed most of it on present graphic drivers. The company said that drivers that will solve the problems are already being developed.

I hope Rockstar gets its act together very soon on this one.
