I’ve been seeing a lot of digital frames on display at Walmart, BestBuy and even Walgreens. Seems like a usual stocking stuffer for this year. And why wouldn’t it be? I remember about a year or two ago, no one would dare give a picture frame for Christmas. It gets forwarded as a second hand gift to other poor souls.
The iRiver digital photo frame, on the other hand will stay in the family living room!
This iRiver Digital Photo Frame takes on digital still and motion images with its WVGA 7-inch LCD display. The 800×480 Framee-L is capable of 200cd/m2 display brightness and 500:1 contrast; it also packs an internal 1GB memory, and supports a variety of memory cards, including SD/MMC/Memory Stick/CF. Sports an interchangeable frame of wood or clear acrylic finish. I think this is the best digital photo frame I’ve seen by far.
Video modes support high quality AVI format encored with MPEG4 AVC/H.264 in 720×480, 30fps at bit rate below 1.5Mbps, as well as motion JPG format up to 640×480 in 30fps. Cool eh? :)
This model will initially sell in Japan for about ¥17,800 ($196). I hope it hits the States soon!
