Walkman Or iPod?

Walkman Or iPod?

I bet your answer is the iPod, without any second thoughts at all. That is not what I meant by the question, though. Of course, no one would want to trade in his iPod for a Walkman from the 80s! But what if you had an iPod case that looked just like a Walkman? What’s the point in that, you may be thinking. Well, how many times have you heard of stories about people getting their iPod snatched away by some low life scum? I remember when I got my first iPod – no one really recognized what it was so it wasn’t that “thief-friendly.” These days, though, iPods are Read more »

New York Times: Amazon Should Tax Shoppers

New York Times: Amazon Should Tax Shoppers

How often do you shop online? I bet that you won’t be able to survive the way you do now without shopping online. And what is the biggest online store on earth today? It might be open to argument, but Amazon definitely ranks at the top. One of the great things about Amazon is that they do not charge intrastate/interstate taxes. Naturally, consumers love this and end up buying more. If the stand of the New York Times is to be followed, though, everyone might have to pay more than they are paying now. They want Amazon to “spread its wealth” and start charging state taxes. How does it work? Read more »

Rumor: TSA Says No More Gadgets

Rumor: TSA Says No More Gadgets

How about that? The blogosphere has been abuzz with talk about something that TSA wants to do about gadgets and traveling. You might have heard of it – the Transportation Safety Administration is planning on putting a ban on the use of electronic gadgets while a plane is on the air. This is actually nothing new, at least in other countries. In the United States, though, most airlines allow the use of electronic gadgets once the plane has taken off. In fact, there are many airlines that offer in-flight services such as WiFi. If the rumor is true, this means that these things are out of the picture. Read more »

Best Anime of 2009

Best Anime of 2009

As the year is coming to a close, I thought it’d be a good idea to take a look at some of the best anime that have come and gone in 2009. Just to make it clear though, when I talk about anime in 2009, I’m referring to series that have aired on Japanese tv, not manga, movies, OVA’s, or OAD’s. Before I go through what I think were the best anime of the year, I should mention that I have not seen every series that aired, but I have given most of them a chance by watching the first 1 or 2 episodes. I am also writing this from Read more »

Go Over The Board At After Christmas Sales

Go Over The Board At After Christmas Sales

Christmas will soon be over, and you’ll probably be sitting back and fiddling with your new toys – if you got any for Christmas. Believe it or not, I did not get a single gadget this year – not even from myself! But for those in the United States, there is good news: a lot of big names in the retail world are holding After Christmas Sales! Think Walmart, among others. From what I have been reading and hearing, consumers can get their hands on a wide variety of electronics for great prices. I guess it is how the stores are going to get rid of their stock from this Read more »

Printed Toast For Breakfast

Printed Toast For Breakfast

When I first saw the phrase “printing your toast,” I immediate thought of Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory. In one episode, he was meticulously toasting slices of bread, which came out with a Cyclon “printed” on one side. (I actually thought it was Darth Vader, but according to Big Bang Theory fans who know better, it wasn’t.) So anyway, I thought that someone actually made a toaster that could print images on the bread! I was mistaken, but what I found is still worth checking out: the Printing Your Toast design. Conjured by designer Othmar Mühlebach, this concept is inspired by your ordinary printer at home or the office. Read more »

I have so many gifts this Christmas … from Farmville, Mafia Wars, Cafe World, Restaurant City … ARGH!

I have so many gifts this Christmas … from Farmville, Mafia Wars, Cafe World, Restaurant City … ARGH!

“Make everyday Christmas” is the age old proverb that is taught to us. The act of gift giving should extend beyond Christmas — and guess what? Because it is so easy to do in Facebook, it’s starting to get annoying. On the other hand, maybe I should feel blessed to have so many “friends” (I add everybody) sending me presents from Farmville, Fishville, Cafe World, Mafia Wars, etc. Wow, Santa! What did I do to deserve this? Was I a good boy on the Internet this 2009!? I must have been!! Simultaneously though, I’m being hounded by the same “friends” for similar presents, like the green and blue presents from Read more »

State of the Multiverse 47

DNAgents - long due for a return.

With the New Year fast approaching, Dan Didio spent a few moments answering questions this time by video on what some of DC’s plans are for 2010 – http://www.newsarama.com/common/media/video/player.php?aid=32559#comments . I regret to say there was little to be impressed with. No Kid Flash title. Nor, despite previous assurances that he was not going to be squeezed out, no strip for the Wally West Flash either, it will be Barry Allen all the way. Which is great for Barry Allen fans, but we have spent the last twenty-five years following Wally, watching him grow as a person and as a hero. I only hope he will get a home in Read more »

All I Want For Christmas Is…

All I Want For Christmas Is…

…a PlayStation 3 console all done up in gold. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but it IS possible to get your hands on one. Sony has been struggling with its revenue from the PS3 console, but it was able to weather the storm and even released a new version (the slim) this year. Who would have thought that they’d make a golden console, though? A couple of weeks ago, just in time for the Christmas rush, Computer Choppers made PS3 fanboys’ mouths water when they showed off the 24kt Gold PlayStation Slim. Obviously, the specs are the same with the regular PS3 Slim, but this one glitters oh so much! Plating aside, Read more »
