I knew it would be a matter of time when a geek would think about this! True to its form the Climbstation is the wall climber’s ultimate buddy. While it doesn’t provide the usual curves and edges they’d look for, it does provide an invigorating session of muscle training for your arms and legs. You’re probably right to say it looks like a treadmill standing at perpendicular from the ground and attached with spokes to fit the game. Here’s a jab about ClimbStation “Climbstation($TBA) is an indoor rock climbing simulator that designs to minimum space and maximum safety without using a harnesses or ropes and mobile design. It features include Read more »

Argon Putter
I’m not really sure if your golf buddies would beam a smile if they saw you bring this in for a put. Some may laugh even by the sight of it, quite an “odd” item to play with. But surely this does shout “I’m a geek” if ever you decide to bring one on the back nine. Those are triple Argon Lasers by the way, that helps you conceive a straight path from your ball to the hole. What this invention doesn’t quite understand though is that the path to the hole isn’t always a straight line as there are breaks and mounds along the way. If it’s practice putting Read more »
Are you serious? Music Balloon!
This portable speaker is more expensive than the iPod it’s attached to. At US$76.16 I couldn’t imagine grabbing this low-powered (0.7-watt) speaker and look the wife straight in the eye. Boy, if I did I’d surely get a black-eye for sure! LOL. With recession hitting everyone worldwide ONLY the fashionista may have the “balls” to pull this purchase. Yuen’To’s Music Balloon speaker has a rechargeable battery that lasts about 2 hours. One of the features I like would be that it can just be used anywhere as it dangles quite well. It only needs to attach itself to your MP3 player’s speaker plug. But considering it’s a mono speaker system, Read more »
Quirky Game Center CX to be ported to the DS
The Nintendo DS is turning into a platform where we are seeing quirky Japanes games that would otherwise not be ported in the North American and European market actually get a release date there. It’s a good thing that this is happening too because otherwise we won’t experience the brilliant games our Japanese gaming counterparts are enjoying. For example, the quirky Retro Game Challenge (also known as Game Center CX) is going to get a US release courtesy of the guys at XSEED. A great interview on Game Center CX and its localization reveals a whole lot about game localizations and also discusses some of the quirky features of the Read more »
Geek love at Daily Candy
Geeks don’t get any love. The media has unfairly portrayed the geek as socially inept individuals with questionable taste in clothes and an unhealthy obsession with science fiction and games. Even though that there really are some geeks like that, to generalize all of them is unfair and frankly quite prejudiced. But apparently, a site called Daily Candy realizes that there can be a decent hunk haul from the geek heap. The site has launched its Get With a Programmer contest that seeks to find “the hottest tech dude in all the land.” The winner (basically the person who nominates the winning geek hunk and the hunk himself) will get Read more »

Got new gadgets and yet still craving for something reminiscent of the past? I don’t know why this happens but it does – and a lot of times. The familiar look and sound of old games and applications just cannot be matched by the glitter of more advanced technology at times. Enter the Commodore 64 home computer emulator. Atlus to release a new Shin Megami Tensei game to the PS2
The Playstation 2 may already be on its last legs but every time someone banners its end by saying that the last great game for the aging console has finally been released, the PS2 surprises its critics by actually getting a game that is considered a great game. This has happened with the last two God of War games and then finally with the release of Shin Megami Tensei / Persona 4 last December. But the PS2 will prove the critics wrong again as it braces for another quality release this year – as Atlus has hinted at another Shin Megami Tensei RPG that will be given a North American Read more »
The Nokia E63: Value For Your Money
Yesterday, I got myself a new toy. I have been thinking on getting a new phone for a while now and found it harder than I thought it would be. With the proliferation of smart phones, I didn’t realize that settling on one choice would be that much of a task! After weeks of wracking my brains, researching online, and hours of roaming the malls, I finally got my hands on one – the Nokia E63. If you are not familiar with this model, just think of the Nokia E71. They are basically the same except that the E71 has additional features and costs considerably more. Physically, they are practically Read more »
Wooden MacBook Case
Ah now isn’t this such an eye-turner! I know this is the first of its kind as I’ve never seen anything come close to it. Sure some would say it’s killing more trees and we’re all trying to be environment friendly the most we can. BUT the idea is something to take notice of. We can make “tree-like” design anyway. Ok, back to the subject… the Wooden MacBook case is, for now, specifically designed for the MacBook and the MacBook Pro line. For now it’s made of real wood (and I don’t know which kind), and the inside is lined with leather, to ensure that your MacBook doesn’t get scratched. Read more »
