Mini Hydro Clock

Mini Hydro Clock

This is too great an idea to pass and I think this is one of the first of its kind too. The HydroClock is a perfect “toy” to give your toddler. Toy in the sense that they can feed it with liquid and see it tell time for them. Hey, this is great for 3rd graders during their time telling class. The design is all too geeky too isn’t it. You must admit that it does make you look twice when someone would pour water into a clock! Ha ha. But true to it’s form (looks like a water container, anyway) it can receive water in AND tell accurate time. Read more »

Cursed Mountain – Coming In 2009

Cursed Mountain for the Wii

Deep Silver today released new screenshots for Cursed Mountain, an upcoming survival horror game developed exclusively for Wii™. These new images highlight the scale of environment, eerie Himalayan setting and the terrifying enemies players will face, including a boss and angry spirits. In Cursed Mountain, players take on the role of Eric Simmons, an expert mountaineer who climbs Chomolonzo, a sacred mountain in the Himalayas, to unravel the mystery surrounding the sudden disappearance of his brother. Reminding the players of how far they’ve come – and how far they’ve yet to go – the entire mountain can be seen at all times. As they climb, the mountain itself becomes an Read more »

Apple celebrates 25th year of Mac

Apple celebrates 25th year of Mac

Apple is currently going through some relatively tough times right now with Steve Jobs decision to temporarily step down as CEO to address the health issues that have been hounding him over the past year. The company is taking a bit of a beating in the media for allegedly hiding the details of Jobs’ health from investors. This controversy may put a cloud over the people at Apple but there is also something to be happy for. Tomorrow, January 24, Apple will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of the Macintosh line. The Mac has helped pave the road for the level of acceptance and ubiquity that PCs Read more »

riiflex

riiflex

A novel idea to keep your Wii players physically fiti! Yeah, I know what you mean when you just couldn’t pull them out of the couch. And don’t even think of pulling the plug in the middle of a game. Que horror! True that the Wii Fit will offer some way to physically keep you well, it just doesn’t offer the proper resistance. So the riiflex to the rescue! the riiflex turns a Wiimote into a weighted dumbbell. It has two weight options — 2 and 5 pounds — as well as trigger ports to access all the Wiimote buttons. The design is a prototype, too bad(!), but we’re all Read more »

The Gadget Holster

The Gadget Holster

Yeah I know (!) there are times you dream you had all your gadgets with you everyday, everytime. Here’s something that just may make that a reality for you. A little bit exaggerated though as you could see this guy almost looks like a silly cowboy or a silly cop. But I do understand that there are some who would need as many gadgets in their person as possible. The e-Volve Gadget Shoulder Holster is designed with a large quick-access pocket that securely fits most smartphone devices (such as a Apple iPhone, Blackberry, Palm Treo or other smartphone device), compact digital cameras (such as Canon Powershot, Panasonic Lumix, Sony Cybershot, Read more »

5 Ways The Internet Changed Education

5 Ways The Internet Changed Education

The Internet has changed the way we work, the way we interact and the way we learn. Here I’ve put together a list of five ways I see the Internet having re-invented the learning process. 1. Information about everything and anything, readily available The two biggest contributors to information access are Wikipedia and Google. While both receive plenty of criticism for inaccuracies or for rewarding bad information, there is no doubting that on balance, they both do a good job of making authoritative information easily accessible. This makes the initial stages of research go much more quickly and can be a spring board to find the sources to go in Read more »

A Geek's Perspective On Wii Fit – Review

A Geek's Perspective On Wii Fit – Review

Strength Training on the Wii Fit I got a Wii Fit for Christmas and was super excited. Not only do I love the idea of having an easy, indoor exercise solution during the cold days of winter, but as a geek there was just something beautiful about the idea of my video game system doubling as my exercise gym. My expectations were high, but did Wii Fit live up to them? The short answer is no. Here’s why. There are three major shortcomings with Wii Fit in my opinion. 1) Wii Fit Is Missing Defined Exercise Programs Perhaps the most glaring problem with Wii Fit is that it has no Read more »

Interview with Blue Dragon Plus developer

Interview with Blue Dragon Plus developer

In the world of Japanese gaming, you have established game development companies that have made a name for themselves with their popular games – Square Enix, Namco, Bandai. But there are also upstart companies that are creating a buzz around their exceptional work. One of them is the strangely named game company Brownie Brown. Brownie Brown has been getting a lot of attention for making Blue Dragon Plus, one of the most anticipated anime-based games this year. Siliconera had a rare opportunity to reveal the inner workings of the company through a great interview with Shinichi Kameoka of Brownie Brown. One of the interesting information from the interview is that Read more »

Turn the heat up with these "breast warmers"

Turn the heat up with these "breast warmers"

This is just too good a product not to blog about. Leave it to the Japanese to think of another kinky technological idea. I don’t that much about the female anatomy to actually decide if a USB powered Bust Beauty Pad is really needed but, according to manufacturer Thanko, the fact that they made it only means that there really are women that complain that their busts get too cold during winter. The Bust Beauty Pad has cords that you plug into two open USB ports, you then insert the pads into the bra, which will then provide comforting heat to the breasts of the woman of your life. Resident Evil 5 will have downloadable content

Resident Evil 5 will have downloadable content

I’ve been blogging about Resident Evil 5 as soon as I get new information about it. I’m THAT stoked about this game. I wasn’t a big fan of the Resident Evil Franchise even though I got all the RE games on the Playstation and Playstation 2 and even Code:Veronica on the Dreamcast. But Resident Evil 4 really gave me a renewed perspective on the game. And just looking at the footage of the gameplay on Resident Evil 5 has got me thinking this may just be the best RE game yet. With Resident Evil 5′s impending release, more and more information is beginning to trickle in. For example, according to Read more »
