Usually your geek also has some ‘out of the world’ wishes and by that I do not mean save the planet or discover the new Pi but gadgets with a rather large price tag. Examples of science, perfect in design, assembly and function. We have assembled the ultimate Valentine’s Day gift guide for geeks. Amazon's got game!

Amazon's got game!

We all know that Amazon’s got downloadable and/or streamed online music and videos on sale, but what we probably missed is knowing that they’ve got video games too. The service is called Amazon Games downloads and right now it has over 600+ video game titles and each for less than US$10! Great eh? Makes me wonder if Yahoo will follow suit by lowering their Yahoo Games… really, at an average of US$29.99, too expensive games Yahoo. Kindle 2.0 delivers the punch

Kindle 2.0 delivers the punch

Check this out… the world’s most famous e-book reader has just released version 2.0. It’s available for pre-order, and judging by the way Kindle 1.0 succeeded, I’m sure Kindle 2.0 will stride to the top as well. Kindle 1.0 was rumored to have sold at least half a million units in 2008. Not bad considering that Oprah Winfrey gave her golden endorsement. Kindle played a major role in bringing people to the good habit of reading. And who wouldn’t try to grab an e-book these days with a great gadget to read it with. At .36 inches (almost as thick as a child’s pencil), the Kindle 2.0 is thinner than Read more »

Google's friend locator

Google's friend locator

Something good has come from Google this week, Google Latitude. It’s paired with the Google Maps application allowing you to find your friends on the map at any given time. Scary… well, maybe. But don’t worry, as we know Google, this will be safe. Google Latitude uses Google Maps My Location service that combines cell tower triangulation and GPS. Ah, too much tech to handle… well, in a snip, if you have a cellphone AND you allow friends to locate you, you can be found. There has been tests, that I’ve personally seen, on the CBS show and I must say it’s a 50/50 accuracy hit, at least for now. Read more »
