In what can only be called another example of its power, China has launched its own High Definition standard, HD NVD, thus escaping any licensing fees. The HD NVD standard has been realized with support from exclusively Chinese companies and the Chinese Government. Technically HD NVD will offer discs up to 12GB and still make use of the more classic red lasers. Because red lasers, known from CD players and DVD players, are used manufacturing will be possible in existing factories thus reducing production costs massively. Read more »

Tiny USB 2.0 Bluetooth Doogle Adapter for PC Laptop
Saw this little dongle at Office Max the other day and thought “hey that’s a dongle I could have used 5 years ago!” when I owned a Dell Inspiron 8600 and desperately needed a bluetooth connection with my Nokia cellphone. Dell was selling bluetooth with the 8600 model for a US$500 premium, too expensive for something I’d use occasionally. Fast forward to 2008… look here, the same functionality for about US$5! The Tiny USB 2.0 Bluetooth Doogle Adapter for PC Laptop, sold here, almost vanishes into your USB port. If you’ve got a bluetooth mouse with “giant” dongles that always get in the way, this is a good replacement. Read more »
Portable Tripod Speaker for your MP3
This is a little odd, when I first saw this I thought a digital camera was supposed to be up there. But close study would show that the plug is for audio. The Portable Tripod Speaker is supposed to be “clever” until you take a step back and think is my precious MP3 gadget safe on top. Hmmm… valid question indeed. If you’ve got a steady table to put this on top of, AND if you’ve got careful kids at home, then maybe your MP3 player IS safe. With the specifications below the jump, it does offer decent sound for a US$20 speaker set. Read more »

Upcoming Superhero/Graphic Novel Movies for 2009/2010
It seems that every year more and more comic books and graphic novels are making the passage from the page to the big screen. Hollywood has cottoned on that not only are these art forms quite often full of great stories but they come complete with an already made fan base who will flock to the silver screen to see their heroes brought to life. It is with this passion in mind that Ive pulled together a list of forthcoming (and in one case now out) movies that originated in a comic book or graphic novel. The $99 BlackBerry Storm 9530 Phone
This is a great deal, and maybe something that will not stay for a long time. Just yesterday my brother-in-law was bragging about a “great find” on Ebay.com, he’s got a Blackberry Curve. I can’t wait to tell him I’ve seen the $99 Blackberry Storm on Amazon. And to add more envy, no mail in rebates to worry about. The discount is INSTANT, as long as you sign up for the standard Verizon service plan. There is a little agreement to consider though, check it out after the jump: Read more »
