Bamboo USB PC Laptop Speakers

Bamboo USB PC Laptop Speakers

Ah, now this I REALLY like.  I love bamboos and now I love it even more as it is now fashioned for PC use.  The Bamboo USB PC Laptop Speakers works like just any other USB speaker in the market.  But the bamboo use and design really just sells it to me right now.  Since it is made of bamboo, the speakers also have a natural resonance.  It plugs in with a 3.5-mm plug which also means it could work with your MP3 player.  Read more »

Timeless Garden

Timeless Garden

This is a clock that’s called Timeless Garden and it was designed by Francesco Castiglione Morelli and Tommaso Ceschi.  Have you had the chance to ask a patch of grass the time?  :)  Well, this one could. REALLY! I think this is genius work. No batteries nor are there any hidden plugs behind to connect to power source.  It’s just the patch of grass reacting with the soil and producing a small electrical charge to the LCD screen that displays the time.  I think this just proves how mother nature gives us clues to make living a little less of a negative impact on earth. Samsung YP-P3 Media Player

Samsung YP-P3

It might say on the box that it plays MP3s, but it sure does a lot more than that. The Samsung YP-P3 is as you can see an attractive player and is arriving in the UK later this month. There’s a wonderfully high resolution display that has haptic (touch screen) to acknowledge your finger presses. It’s worth mentioning that the 3 inch screen is WQVGA – which produces an extremely clear image. Also of benefit is the ability to use various EmoDio widgets on the YP-P3 – a throwback from the Tocco interface – and these widgets are (apart from being handy) quite interesting little things. Don’t expect google maps Read more »

10 'Real' Celebrity Geeks on Twitter

10 'Real' Celebrity Geeks on Twitter

140 Characters which have become a normal part of life for every geek now also are gathering really fast mainstream coverage and growing faster and faster non-stop. Obviously I am speaking about Twitter. The Twitter leaderboard has undergone huge changes and tech-celebrities seem drop the rankings and it won’t last long anymore before the tech celebrities will end up where they belong on the Twitter scale of popularity: in oblivion. I took a look at the geek _real_ celebrities using Twitter at this moment and why, if you should follow them. Obviously there are huge advantages at following an Oscar-winner. Believe me it makes much more fun to make fun Read more »

Samsung Introduces “Blue Earth”

Samsung Introduces “Blue Earth”

You’ve heard the line “don’t leave your electronics out in the sun, specially in your car on a bright sunny day… otherwise, it’ll just “fry” up”.  With the recent announcement of Samsung‘s “Blue Earth” the line is now “make sure you leave your phone in the sun to charge up! :) It’s not a flip or fold-up phone… though it does look like it right? What’s great is that it’s a full touch phone… yup, following the bandwagon, but with the beautiful twist of “green” through and through.   Read more »

The Electric Man

The Electric Man

I was out shopping the other day at Office Max for power strips.  The office needed a few of them as we have recently bought several computers and printers this month.  I remember a firm criteria was that the powerstrip needed to have “space” to accommodate some of our h-u-g-e adapters.  I know you’d agree with me that sometimes those adapters were made to hog every outlet in the house (like Macbook adapters for instance, but that’s another story). I settled for a Belkin powerstrip that has about 1,500 joules supported.  I know it’s a good buy, but am a little too concerned when my bigger adaptors are plugged in, Read more »

Apple iLife 09

Apple iLife 2009

There’s no doubt that iLife is one of the best apps available on the Mac platform, yet it’s probably one of the few pieces of software that you don’t really hear them shouting about. Frankly, if I’d designed it I would be screaming for a port to PC, so sure would I be that it would sell in the thousands of copies. iLife has been a hidden jewel in Apple’s crown, quietly revolutionising photograph management, movie making, music making and website creation. The most recent version, Apple iLife 09, provides some extremely welcome updates to the four main apps, which I’ve included some further information on below. If you have Read more »

Pringles iPod Dock

Pringles iPod Dock

Only just created but immensely popular already, our Dept. of WTF continues to grow with this Pringles iPod dock by Nick M. I made this project for a friend in about an hour. It is al made from found parts laying around our apartment. I uses a set of speakers, and an ipod charging cable. The entire project cost around 5 dollars and was quite fun. The project requires nothing but the can itself, a set of speakers, hot glue, ipod cable (if you want), and an exacto knife. The can holds itself up. 2 Points for creativity, minus 5 for looks and probably another minus 5 for sound quality. Read more »
