colecleanerjpg Oh those cute little pop cans! Every geek’s “sin drink”, a must-have for those times when you’ve got to pour in more hours awake and alert lest you run the risk of misusing code and BAM(!)… a catastrophe happens. Err… ok, back to the pop cans.

If you frequent the vending machines thinking every pop can dispensed is clean from any minute germ known to man… think again. You don’t really have a guarantee that what’s behind the glossy door displays are clean for you. Sure you swab a tissue over the mouthpiece before popping the pop tab… but does it work? Nah.

Good thing that there is coming the Cole Cleaner. The device, designed by Leong Peng, uses UV radiation to disinfect any tin drink. It takes 1 to 5 minutes and when the purple LED lights up, you’re good to go.

It’s still a design proposal but I hope it catches up on speed to the assembly lines soon. And who knows… maybe this can also be applied in commercial vending machines… good idea eh?
