The IEEE has just awarded Philips its Milestone Award to mark its role in the development of the compact disc. The first “Pinkeltje” prototype was created 30 years ago (8th March 1979) with the CD becoming commercially available in 1982. While CDs might be going out of fashion now, it’s this technology that has underpinned all other optical disc formats, including the latest Blu-ray disc. Over 3.5 billion audio CD players, 3 billion CD-ROM drives and 240 billion discs have been sold since then. Read more »

Awesome On Air concept watch design
The ON AIR Wrist Watch, designed by Turkey designer Iskender Asanaliev, only has one hand, the hour hand. Additionally the hour hand also indicates the minutes in numbers. I love both concept and ultra-slick design of the watch.Another novelty of the watch is how to set the time: push the button for 5 seconds and the LED will start flashing. Now you push upper and/or lower corner to set time. Read more »
Second Fallout 3 add-on to be released March 24
Bethesda Softworks has finally announced details for upcoming add-on for Fallout 3. The new add-on, called The Pitt, will be made available on March 24. This is about two months after Operation Anchorage, Fallout 3′s first expansion, was released. The Pitt will feature new achievements and will be set in the raider city that came out of the ruins of Pittsburgh. The player will make a decision to join one of two factions (the slaves and the raiders) in an intensifying conflict in the town. As with Operation Anchorage, The Pitt will be exclusive only to the PC and the Xbox 360. April will see the final expansion of Fallout Read more »
Capcom aims to get your blood for Resident Evil 5
I just have to commend Capcom for thinking up of a great marketing strategy for Resident Evil 5 that actually also helps people. Capcom recently partnered with the American Red Cross to drum up publicity for the hotly anticipated Resident Evil 5, which will be released on March 13. And the campaign? Capcom will fund a blood drive with the help of Red Cross. The Capcom / Resident Evil 5 blood drive will be held at the World of Wonder Gallery located in Hollywood California. The whole day event sounds like fun. People who donate their blood during the event will get a chance to win prizes that includes several Read more »
Iriver "Libre" E-Reader

The Libre e-reader offers PDF support, a joystick controller, an audio output port, and an SD cardslot Hold your horses still as this is not yet available at the moment, and there are rumors that when it is… it just may be a much improved version than the features currently listed here. Fishbone USB Hub
I usually am no fan of ‘fancy’ gadgets and accessories for my computers, I prefer mine slick and puristic like Macs, but somehow I must admit that I like the idea and looks of this Fishbone USB hub. It has 4 ports and the usual specs (works with all the major operating systems), plus the eye is a blue LED. Read more »
Halo Wars Review – Xbox 360
Introduction There aren’t too many decent RTS games on this current crop of consoles, so it was no surprise that Halo Wars was destined to make a big splash – especially with the famous franchise name in the title. Set before the original trilogy, the game has you in command, in single player or cooperative, of human forces fighting against the alien Convenant and the parasitic Flood. Capturing the Halo world shouldn’t have been too difficult a task given that there are three games already to market, however, it’s still a compliment to the developers that the game comes across as an authentic Halo experience despite you having control far Read more »

ASUS goes wireless with the Eee Keyboard PC
The Eee Keyboard PC reminds me of the days when all the computer components were built in underneath the keyboard and you hooked it up to a TV – well, except that this version is a lot slimmer and faster, you can connect it to a high definition TV, it can work wirelessly, and it has a touch panel display. Detailed specs aren’t easily available yet, though Slashgear suggests it will sport a 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor and come with a gigabyte of DDR2 memory and either 16GB or 32GB of SSD storage.
