New Mutants variant cover revealed

New Mutants variant cover revealed

The folks at IGN has finally revealed the variant cover for the new upcoming X title New Mutants #1 and it’s looking pretty cool. Back in the team are former New Mutants members, Sunspot, Moonstar, Magma, Doug and Warlock. Still can’t remember if Karma was part of the original team. I’m pretty sure that Magik (Ilyana Rasputin) was a member though. Of all the X-Men characters I have the most psychedelic memories of her. I read her Magik miniseries in the Eighties, the one where she was trapped in Limbo with the Demon Belasco and that was one head trip. It’s also the reason why Magik is one of my Read more »

Google Earth gets a boost with high-res color imagery from GeoEye

I love Google Earth, though it’s one of those apps that I have to limit myself on because otherwise I’d spend all day zooming around its terrain instead of working, eating, sleeping… So it’s good news that GeoEye has started delivering some of the high-resolution color images from its latest satellite – GeoEye-1 – to Google. GeoEye-1 was launched from the Vandenberg Air Force Base, California on 6th September last year. Read more »

Cats cradle meets times tables with The Maths Wrap

Cats cradle meets times tables with The Maths Wrap

I don’t know if anyone outside Britain had to do “times tables” when they were at school – those monotonous ramblings designed to get you to learn what anything from 1×1 to 12×12 was. Well, they were boring and not necessarily the best way for kids to learn. Thing is, multiplication is pretty useful, even if these exercises did only go up to 12 (what’s that all about? Did teachers have a fear of the number 13… oh hang on…) Read more »

House Of The Dead Makes The Record Books

The House of the Dead: Overkill

The House of the Dead: Overkill charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead. Survival horror as it’s never been seen before! A pulp-style take on the classic Sega light-gun shooter series. Back when the famous Agent G was still fresh out of the academy, he teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little did they know what blood-soaked mutant horror would await them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City. The game has a wonderful Read more »

Most Desirable Gadgets From Films

Most Desirable Gadgets From Films

One of the things I like about watching films is seeing the nifty gadgets that they showcase. Of course, when you talk gadgets and films, you tend to think of the sci-fi movies, don’t you? LG recently conducted its own survey related to movies and their gadgets. Can you guess the winners? Pocket Lint listed the top 8 most wanted film gadgets (with a smattering of my thoughts thrown in): Read more »

Solid Snake's voice forms game studio

Solid Snake's voice forms game studio

David Hayter. That name probably doesn’t ring a bell to some of you but anyone who’s played Metal Gear Solid will recognize that name as the guy who “plays” Solid Snake. Hayter may have become famous for voicing Solid Snake in the various Metal Gear Solid games but he’s much more than a voice actor. He’s actually an accomplished writer too. He helped write the scripts for both X-Men and X2 and just this month you’ve seen his name again on the big screen because he was one of the writers of the Watchmen live action movie. Hayter now wants to capitalize on his burgeoning geek celebrity by putting up Read more »

The Golf-club shaped mouse

The Golf-club shaped mouse

Do you need to impress your boss? Well if he’s an avid fan of golf then you may have a slim chance of putting a little smile on the boss’ face. Giving him this gift doesn’t even need to be for an occasion. You could casually slip it in and say, “hey, I noticed your mouse is a little too worn out, I took the liberty of getting you a new one!”. You’d be surprised that it’s affordable, unlike most golf novelty items. At US$19.95 right here, could this be any better? The downside… it seems like there is only a PS2 version available… ouch! You’d think they’d upgrade it Read more »

iMac Shuffle: It's Apple announcement day!

With today’s Apple’s iPhone 3.0 event and the wildest guesses about an Apple tablet circulating again, rumours the FG HQ does not believe in, no matter how many caffeinated drinks we enjoyed already this morning, we thought it was more important to announce Apple’s newest upgrade to an even simpler UI, thus simplificating the switch from Windows to Mac more even day. The iMac Shuffle No price has been announced yet, but we expect the price to be competitive with the new unibody MacBooks. Features and specs after the jump. Read more »

Dell shows off Adamo, world's thinnest laptop

Dell shows off Adamo, world's thinnest laptop

It seems like an age ago when Apple showed off its Air notebook computer, proudly proclaiming it to be the world’s thinnest. You knew everyone else would want to try to better that, and today it’s Dell’s turn. In fact, the new Adamo notebook is the new “world’s thinnest”. At 0.65 inches, it beats the MacBook Air by over a tenth of an inch. It features a 13.4-inch widescreen high definition edge-to-edge glass display, 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, optional mobile broadband, solid state drives (naturally) and a backlit keyboard.
