Toshiba launching Dynadock U10 USB port replicator with full HD support

Toshiba launching Dynadock U10 USB port replicator with full HD support

Flicking through about 14 pages of new gear that Toshiba is launching in the UK over the next few months, I came across this little gadget that’s surely a must for anyone doing serious stuff with USB. Yeah, the new high definition TVs, camcorders and sleek hard drives are all very well, but if you’re anything like me, it’s USB ports that disappear and have to be hot-swapped. Read more »

Colorize your Mac Mini

Colorize your Mac Mini

I’ve known Apple for their standard white, gray or black color preference. I’m not really sure why they prefer the grayscale family, but we could all see that it works. Here’s a refreshing way to put the Mac Mini to the colorful road. A company online is offering to skin it for about US$199. I know, quite a little on the expensive end is it? For those who don’t know, anodizing is a scratch resistant finish applied to aluminum that comes standard on most Apple computers. The only problem is, they don’t offer this finish in different colors. So to fix that problem, we now offer anodizing in a rainbow Read more »

Morrison and Quitely to team up in new Batman series

Morrison and Quitely to team up in new Batman series

With the conclusion of the immensely readable Batman RIP, I’ve been dying to know when my favorite writer Grant Morrison is going to go back and tell more adventures of the Dark Knight. The comics gods have deemed my request worthy enough that they even decided to give me more yummy news in the form of Batman and Robin, a new series that will be written by Morrison and drawn by my favorite artis Frank Quitely. The new title, which will begin this June, will be published just when new directions are being taken for Detective Comics and Batman. At this point, new series like Gotham City Sirens, Red Robin Read more »

McEnroe to appear in EA's Grand Slam Tennis

McEnroe to appear in EA's Grand Slam Tennis

EA’s Grand Slam Tennis has achieved a coup of sorts when it announced that the game will now be the exclusive home of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, the venue for the Wimbledon Championships. But it looks like that’s not the only coup EA has made in the tennis front. The company has announced that legendary tennis star John McEnroe will be heading the roster of players – both past and present – for the upcoming game. McEnroe is one of the most recognizable names in the world of tennis having won seven Gran Slam titles and 77 singles titles over his 15 year career in the pro circuit. Read more »

Rock Band: The Beatles will feature previously unreleased material

Rock Band: The Beatles will feature previously unreleased material

A cursory look at what I usually blog about would immediately reveal how much I love music rhythm games. I am literally obsessed with it. Being a huge Beatles fan (one of my ultimate goals as a dad is to turn my children on to The Beatles) I was really quite excited when Harmonix announced Rock Band: The Beatles. I think it was a product aimed squarely at me. I always consider this upcoming game a coup for Harmonix and MTV Games because it is so hard to get permission to use The Beatles’ work for anything. The idea alone of playing to actual recordings of The Beatles is reason Read more »

Chicago residents play on world's largest working cell phone

Chicago residents play on world's largest working cell phone

While it’s a blatant marketing plug for Samsung and a wireless company, there’s something cool – and “Big” – about this oversized cellphone that’s been set up in Chicago. An exact working replica of the Samsung Messenger, it stands 15 feet long, 13 feet high and 3 feet deep, and is on its side to give access to the slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Residents have been able to come and make free phone calls and send text messages on the device. Perhaps this is a new way of keeping fit while communicating with people. At least no-one can complain that this phone’s keyboard is too fiddly to use for their fat Read more »

Does Apple want to be exclusive, niche again?

Does Apple want to be exclusive, niche again?

Claims about Steve Jobs’ health and the decision of the shareholders to re-elect the Apple Board throw a weird shadow on new releases and their _special_ features such as yesterday’s iPod Shuffle update. With every new release it seems as if the actual Apple team decides to develop less and less for Joe Average but once more opts for their own little nice, a nice of hardcore fanboys and adepts. The iPod Shuffle headphones conundrum and choice for the glass screen for the MacBook, as well as the decision to drop FireWire on the MacBook and the solitary position of the 17″ MacBookPro seem a clear message to its userbase. The New iPod Shuffle

The New iPod Shuffle

Apple seems to be making raves around the tech video blog these days because they have just released their new version of the iPod Shuffle with a refreshing new design and one unexpected feature. Loaded with Natalie del Conti has scooped-out Cali Lewis of Geekbrief.tv with this release (though I’m sure they’ve got a quite different following anyway), but knowing Cali she’d bounce back with a fun take and a close-eye on the new iPod Shuffle. I wouldn’t be surprised if she would clip it to her nose as a gleeful gesture. She’s a Mac. :) Read more »
