I bet you’ve always wondered if you could get hold of a storage jar that glows in the dark and doesn’t require batteries to be changed? The Moon Jar is just that. It’s a solar-powered LED light source that glows either blue or amber. Leaving it outside during the day will charge it up, ready for it to glow the night away (five to six hours per charge, in fact). Read more »

PHWEET: The Fake Twitter Chronicles
It was bound to happen. I am sure that everyone saw this coming. With social media being as prevalent as it is, there will definitely be some fakers round here. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was watching Jimmy Kimmel interview Lily Allen; you know that British singer chick who is the rave these days? Anyhow, she was narrating how she is using Twitter to promote concerts and shows. She would tweet about hiding tickets in some public place and her fans would go and rush to get them. Read more »
Matt Cutts switches everything around and blog still works
Presumably using his decent screen real estate to ensure that all the required windows were open at the same time, Google software engineer Matt Cutts decided he was going to mix things up over the weekend. I took one of my domains, dullest.com, and moved it to TigerTech from pair Networks. I installed the latest version of WordPress on dullest.com and copied the MySQL database from mattcutts.com to dullest.com. I changed my blog layout to the excellent Thesis theme by Chris Pearson. Previously I was using the Almost Spring theme. I added an .htaccess file that will do 302 redirects from www.mattcutts.com/path/file.html to www.dullest.com/path/file.html. Read more »

Sophie Johnson, Geek Girl, bids to become Miss Universe GB 2009
Meet Sophie. She’s a 21-year-old graduate of the University of Liverpool who graduated top of her 1000-strong year in Computer Information Systems, and is now bidding to become Miss Universe GB 2009. She’s being sponsored by Memset, the aim being that her involvement will encourage more women to get into the IT industry. “I could honestly not hope to find a better role model than Sophie; she has brains, beauty and talent, and hatters the outdated preconception that technologists are all sandal-wearing blokes with no social skills!” said Memset’s MD, Kate Craig-Wood. Show The Earth Some Geek Love With These Gadgets
We just celebrated Earth Day a while back, and I don’t know about you but I was pretty much caught up in all the hype. I have to be honest about it – I am quite passionate about going green and I try my best to do my part. And when it comes to this, gadgets are no exempt in my opinion. I was doing some reading on the greenest gadgets there are and I came across a couple that I find particularly appealing. Read more »
Top Three Uses For Old Mouse Pads
And who said that you cannot be techie and help save the earth at the same time? That is pure rubbish, if I say so myself! There are so many tech products that are environment friendly, and there really is no excuse NOT to buy them. More so, there are many things that you can do to lessen your waste with regard to tech products. How about those old mouse pads that you tend to have a lot lying around? I know for sure that I have at least five of those things at home. A thought just occurred to me earlier – you can use them for other things Read more »
Jane's Addiction finally getting RB DLC release
I just bought all of the Rock Band DLCs a little over a month ago and at this point I’m not even halfway through the songs because i keep going back to the songs that I love playing — which is surprisingly a lot. But despite being up to my eyeballs in Rock Band DLCs I’m already earmarking money for next week’s purchase because it’s gonna be an awesome bunch of songs. Harmonix and MTV Games has announced that Jane’s Addiction will be the featured artist for next week’s DLC release. Jane’s Addiction’s Nothing’s Shocking album will be finally released after so much delay. Actually, the first announcement of this Read more »
