Retro arcade gum

Retro arcade gum

Topps, the company famous for their baseball cards, released in 1983 a series of awesome “Video Arcade Gum’. The boxes were shaped like video arcade games. If these were still available they would be on the shelves among the Pockies, Wispas and Pot Noodles in the indie coffeeshop I _also_ manage. PUMA: Futuristic City Transport

PUMA: Futuristic City Transport

Car enthusiasts will certainly scoff at this idea, but hear me out. We already have how some people rely heavily on alternative means of transportation. Take wonder geek The Woz, for example. He has become associated with the Segway. Now, what if someone comes up with something like the Segway but still closely resembling the traditional car? Bacon contains enough of energy to melt metal. Uh?

A guy has created a thermal lance, built out of bacon, to cut metal. Bacon is fattening because it contains a lot of chemical energy tied up in its proteins, and especially in its fat. You can release that energy either by digesting it or by burning it with a healthy supply of oxygen. The challenge isn’t creating the heat; it’s engineering a bacon structure strong enough to withstand the stress of a 5,000F bacon plasma flame. I used prosciutto (Italian for “expensive bacon”) because it is a superior engineering grade of meat. I wrapped slices of it into thin tubes and baked them overnight in a warm oven to Read more »

Kenwood create glass speakers: looks over performance

Kenwood create glass speakers: looks over performance

Does Kenwood make washing machines, because when I first saw these speakers that’s what I thought they were modelled on. These are glass speakers with white and blue LEDs, and they can even be supplied with some stands that also have lights built in. Trouble is, they cost close to $1,000 and yet they only offer 10W of output per channel, which is pretty pathetic. Read more »
