It took Microsoft almost a year before it finally acknowledged the RROD error and announce that it is extending the warranty of the 360 to three years to address this particular problem. Unfortunately, that three year warranty is specifically just for the RROD error and not for any other errors that a 360 owner will experience that could be almost equally catastrophic. With, at one point, a failure rate of almost 68 percent, Microsoft was probably hoping that RROD errors were there only hurdle. But with more and more owners now complaining of getting an E74 error, Microsoft has now again been forced to cover the said error for a Read more »

Reduce tedious underwear changes: J-Ware Stink Free
It’s a stereotypical geek (nerd, perhaps) dream – the invention of underwear that you don’t have to waste time changing every day yet remains pong free. Created by boffins in Tokyo, J-Ware “stink-free” underwear is being tested by Koichi Wakata, currently orbiting the earth on the International Space Station. Read more »
Patapon 2 to be sold solely as downloadable content?
With rumors of a PSP2 still red hot after so many red herrings and unsubstantiated reports, a number of other reports are slowly bolstering Sony’s apparent new direction for a UMD-less PSP and online distribution. With the sequel to the PSP hit Patapon being readied for launch next month, Ars Technica reports that Patapon 2 will be shipped on May 5 not through the UMD format. According to Ars Technica, Patapon 2 will be made available for download through the Playstation Network for $15. Retailers will also carry a boxed copy for $19.99, but what the package will contain is a download code and not a UMD. To help bolster Read more »
Fatal Frame Wii cancelled in the US, Europe
Bad news for horror game fans. Nintendo has decided not to publish a Wii installment of the extremely scary horror game series Fatal Frame in both the US and Europe. This piece of info was given by Techmo, developer of the Fatal Frame franchise. The company said that Nintendo actually owns the publishing rights to Fatal Frame for the Wii and not Tecmo or codeveloper Grasshopper Manufacture. The game, which was released in Japan way back July 31, 2008, will not get an English version because of Nintendo’s decision. I actually don’t understand Nintendo’s decision regarding Fatal Frame. Based on the better than average sales of both Resident Evil 4: Read more »
Simultaneous Broadcasts and Streaming Translated Anime – A New Age?
Anyone who follows anime knows that it takes a year after airing in Japan before being officially released in North America, and even longer in Europe. However, times are changing, anime is spreading, and anime production companies are taking notice of non-Japanese markets. Until just last year, the only way that non-Japanese anime fans could get their anime fix (legally) was to wait until someone licensed the anime and released it in their country, and many anime series never make it out of Japan. This of course frustrated many fans, but a few companies seem to be looking to fix that problem. Read more »
USB Fragrance Burner
We all have our quirks, and one of mine is this fascination with scented oils and fragrances for the house. I just love stepping into a room, inhaling, and discovering whatever scent it is that pervades the room. As a result, I have tons of tea lights, bottles of essential oils, and ceramic burners at home. I have thought of bringing one set to the office but I am not sure how that would sit with my colleagues – especially the idea of having an open flame. Read more »
UV Toothbrush Sanitizer
How many germs can your toothbrush get just sitting there in its tiny little corner of your bathroom? I am sure that you have heard all sorts of stories about how the germs and tiny particles of human waste can find its way from your toilet to your toothbrush. Is this all true? Well, dentists and other experts swear by this. I even read somewhere that even if your toothbrush were placed a couple of meters away, traces of undesirable things can still be found in them.
