Akihabara: A Geek Paradise

The geek has indeed inherited the earth. A growing number of pursuits are now aimed squarely at the geek in all of us. Marvel vs. classic heroes, or violence in cartoons

Marvel vs. classic heroes, or violence in cartoons

Interesting article on the level of violence in cartoons and comics, comparing the amount of violence in classic cartoons and the dose of aggression offered by modern superheroes.Moneyquote: The accompanying article complains mostly about the violence in the new generation of cartoons featuring the “weirdies”, the Super-Heroes. Bowers & Wilkins offers super high quality music downloads

Bowers & Wilkins offers super high quality music downloads

You’d expect audio experts like Bowers & Wilkins to be pushing the envelope when it comes to quality music reproduction, and today the British company has announced an upgrade to its Society of Sound Music download service. Members can now get access to three lossless music download file formats – Apple Lossless, 16-bit FLAC and now 24-bit FLAC. Membership is £23.95 for six months or £33.95 per year, and for that you get to download an album every month, recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios. This isn’t iTunes or any other mass-download music site, so it probably isn’t for everyone, but it does offer a range of alternative music Read more »
