It is made of travertine and can be used for many other uses besides your laptop. I know it's expensive (the stone and materials alone cost me close to $50), so I wanted to make it as useful as possible. I have one I made for myself and generally it is the coffee table centerpiece and usually has all sorts of stuff on it, from candles to a spot to put our hot and cold drinks.
