ledbinarywatch-blueFather’s Day is almost here – have you gotten a gift for your geeky dad yet? My father is not really a full blown geek, but having two daughters who are self-proclaimed geeks and a son-in-law who everyone calls a geek is fast making him into one as well. We got our *smart* brains together and came up with this perfect gift for dad, who is so into watches.

Thanks to ThinkGeek, we found the ultimate watch for him – the LED Binary Watch. Obviously, it uses binary to tell the time. There are 10 LEDs on the watch face, each of which indicates the numbers in the binary sequence. I don’t have to spell it out for you, right? But just in case: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32.

So how do you tell the time? Well, obviously, you need to know how to read binary. In order to figure out what time of the day (or night) it is, you have to add up the numbers of the LEDs that are lit. The top row indicates the hour while the bottom row indicates the minutes.

That takes care of the geeky part, and you won’t be disappointed with the fashionable part either (not that geeks care about fashion all that much, right?). The watch face has a circuit board design (woot!), has a stainless steel and black casing, and a soft leather strap. It really is not that bad looking. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that it looks cool. I wouldn’t mind having one of these myself. Just imagine how cool it would be to flash your watch with LEDs all ablaze when someone asks you what time it is!

You can get this for $69.99 at ThinkGeek.
