British satellite broadcaster Sky is ready to welcome Australian friends to the UK with the introduction of an upside-down remote control. Ahh, I’ve never grown tired of the notion that everyone who lives in Australia stands on their head because it’s on the other side of the world from Britain (not exactly, of course). Read more »

Geek The Library: My Idea Of Heaven
If you were to feel my heartbeat right now, you would be amazed. The moment I read the words “geek” and “library” in one phrase, I knew that I would find something to make me high. Just so you have the context – one of my dreams is to become a librarian. Yes, it is not every day that you find someone who would admit to that, but since I left university, I have always seen myself practicing this profession one day. So when I heard about the Geek The Library movement, I was ecstatic. What’s Geek The Library all about? Read more »

She asked for 56 stars but started blaming the tattoo artist because her father was enraged. I asked for 56 stars and initially adored them. But when my father saw them, he was furious. So I said I fell asleep and the that the tattooist mad made a mistake. Body artist Tourmiantz now has withdrawn the offer to pay half of the removal costs and also admitted having received ample publicity for his studio during the Read more »

Wooden iPod Mini
Awesome mod of an iPod Mini. I must say this is probably the nicest iPod Mini mod I’ve seen so far, almost as beautiful as Joel Scilly’s wooden turntables. My finished wood ipod mini. This has been such a fun project for me. It’s handmade (with special thanks to my 8yr old dremel) from Australian red cedar, Camphor Laurel for the clickwheel, brass plates, brass screws and the guts from the first ipod i ever had. I was given a new ipod mini for christmas and I just couldn’t leave my trusty old mini to sit unused somewhere. So I decided to finally try a wooden shell mod on him Read more »

Analog meets retro gaming with these Atari 2600 cartridge clocks
I love this marriage of concepts and materials — parts of an analog clock fused with original Atari 2600 video game cartridges. Sadly, if you’re after the game itself you’ll be disappointed to hear that the innards have been removed to make way for the clock mechanism. Read more »

C64 emulator for iPhone/Refused by Appstore
The C64 was an awesome gaming device back in the days, especially considered the limited hardware capabilities. Manomio went ahead and brought the C64 back in the form of an emulator for the iPhone. C64iPhone is completely licensed by Commodore, but got rejected by the AppStore because the emulator breaks the iPhone SDK API, running executable code. It is expected that a new version will be released, only running the virtual emulator without BASIC code. Until then, all we got is the Youtube preview video of awesome C64 classic such as Bruce Lee and International Karate. When finally accepted, the C64 will come with 5 games included: Dragons Den, Le Read more »
