Initial impressions on Fight Night Round 4

Initial impressions on Fight Night Round 4

I finally finished downloading Electronic Arts‘ Fight Night Round 4 demo for the Playstation 3 last weekend and I’ve been playing it on and off over the last couple of days. First off, the graphics have vastly improved. Everything is now more detailed – from the character models (you actually get to read Manny Pacquiao’s arm tattoos) to the environments. I’m still on the fence with regards to the generally brighter visuals because the darker lighting of Round 3 kind of suited the whole feel of the sport. I’m still getting used to the controls at this point. My initial impression is that the controls are a bit floaty. It’s Read more »

Sony finally unveils PSP Go

Sony finally unveils PSP Go

One of Sony’s “worst kept secrets” was finally confirmed during Sony press conference at the recently held Electronic Entertainment Expo. The PSP Go is the spiritual successor to Sony’s Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming console. I said spiritual successor because Sony stressed that the PSP Go is not meant to replace the PSP but is expected to be a complimentary device. The PSP Go will be 40 percent lighter than the current PSP-3000 and will also be 50 percent smaller. It will have both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. Confirming rumors for the device that has been running rampant on the internet months before, the PSP Go will not have a Read more »

Orb's spherical speakers for perfectly formed audio

Orb's spherical speakers for perfectly formed audio

I’m embarrassed as I compare the bulky, oblong speakers sitting on my desk with these lovely round and compact ones from Orb Audio. The Mod1 satellite speakers are just four inches in diameter and made from high carbon steel. There’s a lot of sound technology in there, too, including rare earth magnets, Santoprene, Nomex and CCAD voice coils. The speaker system is also easily upgradable, just by adding more speakers to form a Mod2 or Mod4 setup. There are compact subwoofers available too. Read more »

Craig Galentine has a large assortment of handmade and hand painted Kokeshi dolls in his Etsy store. Among the many ninja dolls, you also find all time favourites Cpt. Kirk and Spock, the original Trekkies. Definitely Dept. of Awesomeness worthy! Read more »

Wii In Black

Wii In Black

Why not? Everything in black looks good. Take a look at the PlayStation. It is not by accident that the default consoles have always been black. I have to admit, white does have its appeal. Then again, it doesn’t look as bad a** as black. Anyhow, the ubiquitous white Wii now has a black brother. For the longest time, the clean sparkling white of the Wii was synonymous to group fun. Its sales have reached unprecedented heights as well. Why has Nintendo decided to suddenly change gears? Read more »

Gradient portable drinks heater/cooler looking good

Gradient portable drinks heater/cooler looking good

I’m a fan of good looking and useful kitchen appliances, despite not having a big enough kitchen to house them all, so this Gradient portable electric drinks heater/cooler caught my eye. Not only does it serve a dual purpose (not at the same time, obviously) but it looks pretty good too. The bottom hotplate takes care of tea, coffee and other drinks you want to stay hot by maintaining them at a constant temperature. Read more »
