Yamaha NeoHD review and give-away

Yamaha NeoHD review and give-away

I was surprised to be picked to share a user-review for the Yamaha NeoHD. I had no idea what NeoHD was, and just thought that it was one of those average things that just makes an entertainment system look good. For a hefty price of US$500-US$800 I said “this has got to be a joke” because there are universal remote controls for under US$20 at RadioShack, Walmart and even Walgreens. I soon found out that it wasn’t just a remote, not even a super-remote, but a high tech entertainment system that doesn’t only look good but ACTUALLY MAKES my entertainment system work a whole lot better! And silly me to Read more »

State of the Multiverse 4

Legion Of Three Worlds together.

Well, it’s finally here, and it was well worth the wait. `Of course I’m talking about the final chapter of Final Crisis: Legion Of Three Worlds. And without gushing and revealing umpteen spoilers, all I can say is it was brilliant. I have always loved the Legion, and to see Grant Morrison write a Legion story, with George Perez art no less, is enough to give this fanboy an earth-shaking geekgasm. That’s not even to mention the fact it is a team up between the 1980’s Earth One Legion, the Reboot Earth 247 Legion and the Threeboot Legion. (Just wait until you find out where they come from!) Of course, Read more »

Star Wars Death Troopers coming in September

Star Wars Death Troopers coming in September

Joe Schreiber’s Star Wars Death Troopers horror roman will be released on October 13th. The horror adaption tells the story of prisoners fleeing on a star destroyer… filled with Zombies. Star Wars zombies! When the Imperial prison barge Purge – temporary home to five hundred of the galaxy’s most ruthless killers, rebels, scoundrels, and thieves – breaks down in a distant, uninhabited part of space, its only hope appears to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting, derelict, and seemingly abandoned. But when a boarding party from the Purge is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back–bringing with them a horrific disease so lethal that within Read more »

Grab yourself a car-created font: IQ Font

Grab yourself a car-created font: IQ Font

I sometimes wonder what processes font designers go through to develop a new font. I bet not many do it this way: Teaming up with Toyota Belgium, two typographers used the Toyota iQ car to drive out each letter, digit and piece of punctuation. Attaching four colored dots to the roof of the car, these were tracked by a computer and created in Open Frameworks. Read more »

Captain America Returns, sort of

So Captain America is alive again. Or will be. Or was somewhen and is coming back. Who does he think he is? Jean Grey? Actually I love the idea of the bullet locking his body in time and space at the point of his apparent death, causing him to come unstuck from the normal flow of time. Though how that causes his awareness to bounce around his personal timeline, well, I’m not sold on that yet, but I suppose it will enable him to leave messages for his teammates in the future. I’ll have a double helping of Deus Ex Machina please, hold the Exiles. We don’t want Cap working Read more »

Minimal black and white digital clock: want

Minimal black and white digital clock: want

Here’s a great little digital clock made up from OLEDs. Each figure can be attached to a wall, has its own power supply, is touch-sensitive and even has a light sensor built in to reverse the illumination based on the ambient light. It’s certainly minimal and would look great on the wall. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a manufacturer yet. Check out the pictures below. Read more »

Fluorescent CMYK AT-ST

Fluorescent CMYK AT-ST

Ok, we already had the metrosexual Gundam here at FG. As if this pink destroyer wasn’t disturbing enough yet, some other brainiac seems to have been really stoned when he created this AT-ST. I don’t know what you have to be on when coming up with a CMYK AT-ST but it must be some really good stuff! Not known if this item from Famous When Dead is for sale, but one would hope not!
