Fans of Chaos;Head will surely remember the pink-haired 2D wife of a certain delusional otaku, Seira Orgel. Although there were a variety of Seira figures shown in the anime, none of them actually existed until now. Late this year, Wave will be releasing the first PVC figure of Seira. It will be 1/7 scale (according to Seira’s fictional size, not the figure) so it stands approximately 15cm high, and it’s partially cast-off-able. The retail price for this figure is 7,429 yen which is about 80USD; a bit expensive, but I’m sure that wouldn’t deter any collectors of pink-haired girls, or figures of figures. Read more »

HARP: collaborative music for inner city parks
I love seeing new concepts for people making music together, particularly those who aren’t trained in music composition or theory and for who more traditional instruments would be quite difficult to engage with. So the HARP (Harmony and Acoustic Research Project) — which would see these interesting circular desks and seating placed in inner city parks around the world — is a really cool one. Read more »
Concept xylophone pitcher tells you how full it is
This may not be super advanced technology but there’s still something a bit geeky about this pitcher design. It comes with a little mallet, much like that found on a xylophone, which allows the user to know how much water (if any) is in the jug based on the tones made by the hammer when it strikes the body and the handle. State of the Multiverse 14
Still regressing here, back to my teenage years if not my childhood. Yesterday saw the release of New Mutants #4, the conclusion of the first arc in the series, and I have to say I am suitably impressed. We have seen the return of Legion to the X-Men fold, Cannonball leading the team and already butting heads again with Dani. Just like old times, it’s as if they never left. So far we have seen Sam and Dani, Magma, Karma who had risen to prominence again this last year, Sunspot of course and the newly returned Illyana. And Wolfsbane is cavorting in the Rockies with her Asgardian boy friend. I Read more »

ISML 2009 Heating Up
Those of you who have been following this year’s International Saimoe League (ISML) will know that we are now entering the final week of the regular season. If you aren’t familiar with the ISML, it’s an annual competition where people from around the world can vote on which anime girl they think it the most “moe” (pronounced mo-e). The word “moe” is defined on Anime News Network as follows: Moe is a Japanese term used in connection with manga or anime to describe something precious, usually (but not always) the ideal of youthful and innocent femininity. Written with the kanji for “to bud or sprout” (萌), the concept covers a Read more »
